25 State AGs Sue Biden Over EV Mandates

The Joe Biden administration is pushing more mandates to take control of more Americans freedom of choice unconstitutionally while violating free market enterprise. At issue is the desire of the left to replace gas-powered vehicles with electric vehicles. ย After Biden took his action last week he claimed his new rules will help ensure the U.S. meets his goal of EVs accounting for 50% of all new car sales in 2030.

But at least 25 state attorneys general have filed a legal challenge against the Biden administration over his new environmental regulations which specifically target gas-powered vehicle emissions while pushing electric vehicles (EVs). The litigation is led by Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman (R) and West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) and 23 others from around the nation.

These attorneys filed a challenge against the Biden Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. They are asking the court to declare Bidenโ€™s new rules unlawful. Their filing holds the new EPA regulations impose “unworkable emissions standards” on passenger cars and medium-duty vehicles.

“Conservative attorneys general are slamming the brakes on President Bidenโ€™s radical green agenda that is using the weight of the federal government to force expensive EVs on families, workers and farmers,” Kentucky AG Coleman said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Even if Americans wanted to buy an electric car, we canโ€™t afford them amid historic inflation,” Coleman said. “Weโ€™re taking President Bidenโ€™s EPA to court to block this latest big-government mandate and protect the free market.”

The EPA and Biden White House issued the regulations last month widely perceived as both the most aggressive multipollutant emission standards ever finalized as well as completely unrealistic. The regulations are targeted towards gas-powered vehicles while they explicitly push a wider nationwide adoption of EVs.

The new standards were officially published last Thursday, opening the door to legal challenges and congressional resolutions. That page of the EPA is found here:

โ€œFinal Rule: Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehiclesโ€

Just last month the State of Maine rejected their governorโ€™s EV mandate there.

โ€œMaine rejects sweeping electric vehicle mandate in blow to governor’s climate agendaโ€

If these new environmental standards survive legal challenges in court, automakers will have to more rapidly curb vehicle emissions of greenhouse gases of hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter from their newer models of 2027 vehicles. The EPA claims the new rules will help “tackle the climate crisis” by reducing the transportation sector’s carbon dioxide emissions.

CONCLUSION:

I have been studying the issue of climate change for decades and when one does a deep dive into the subject you realize it is a complete and utter hoax driven by an agenda unrelated to care for our climate.

  • In the first place, talking heads that promote this hoax never acknowledge that if other countries such as those of Asia do not act in parallel with US and European efforts, any effort to curb carbon emissions is for naught. For the slow thinkers of the left: China has no equivalent of our EPA and they do not care!
  • In the second place, if you use simple math and science you quickly find out to produce and use EVs actually creates more pollution than gas-powered vehicles. Again, for the slow thinkers of the left, there is currently a very factual meme going around on the Internet that reads:

โ€œThis is a lithium leach field. This is what your electric car batteries are made of. It is so neoro-toxic that a bird landing on this stuff dies in minutes. Take a guess what it does to your nervous system. Guess what is happening to the 25,000 child laborers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) who mine the cobalt to make the lithium-ion batteries for your electric cars. Now pat yourself on the back for saving the environment!โ€

  • In the third place, as I have reported previously, while I have nothing against EVs or those people who purchase and drive them, they currently account for just 1% of the automotive market. For the slow thinkers of the left: There is no way our electric power grid can rapidly support as many new EVs as Joe Bidenโ€™s new EPA rules call for.
  • In the fourth place, and the reason climate change cultists are proven bullshit artists, high school biology teaches us plants use carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight to grow and then expel oxygen as a byproduct for us to breathe. Again, for the slowpokes of the left: This process is known as โ€œphotosynthesisโ€.
  • In January United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain came out with an endorsement of Joe Biden for president in 2024 speaking for the 391,000 members in that union. For those in the UAW who never got to vote for this and are still able to think for themselves: They should now write a letter of no confidence in Shawn Fain.

Not to sound contradictory but, I am a big time admirer of Elon Musk and Tesla and all of his EV car customers who drive his vehicles. But even Elon Musk is looking forward to a new future of hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) vehicles which could soon make EVs relics of the past.

I have always admired and loved HFCs because, like plants giving off oxygen as their waste, HFCs give off a waste of water.
