Remarks by President Trump at the 2020 Council for National Policy Meeting

The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City
Arlington, Virginia

11:51 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT:  Wow.  (Applause.)

AUDIENCE:  USA!  USA!  USA!

THE PRESIDENT:  Youโ€™re really fantastic, and I want to thank you very much.  You really are.  Thank you very much and thank you, Bill.  And thank you to the Council for National Policy.

My brother, Robert, would have wanted me to be here today.  Thank you very much.  (Applause.)

Together, weโ€™re committed to protecting the American people, preserving American values, defending Americaโ€™s heritage, and keeping America safe, strong, prosperous, and free.

I want to thank Bob McEwen, Kelly Shackelford, and Jenny Beth Martin for your tremendous leadership of the CNP.  Youโ€™ve done a fantastic job.

Weโ€™re also joined by Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, whoโ€™s done incredibly: Chad Wolf.  Where is Chad?  (Applause.)  Thank you very much, Chad.  Youโ€™re right in the heart of it, and youโ€™ve got some big things coming.  Very big things.  Good job.

Also, Lieutenant Governor, a friend of mine, Dan Patrick of Texas.  Dan?  (Applause.)  Dan?  Wherever you may be.  What a great guy.  Great family.  Great son doing a tremendous job as U.S. Attorney.

And many other state and local officials: I want to thank you all for being here.  We have a lot of โ€” a lot of horsepower here.  A lot of firepower, you might want to say.

But over the last week, the Democrats held the darkest and angriest and gloomiest convention in American history.  They spent four straight days attacking America as racist and a horrible country that must be redeemed.

Joe Biden grimly declared a season of American darkness.  And yet, look at what weโ€™ve accomplished.  Until the plague came in, look at what weโ€™ve accomplished.  And now weโ€™re doing it again.  (Applause.)

It was the most successful period of time in the history of our country, from every standard.  Look what weโ€™ve accomplished.  And now this plague comes in, and look at the way they talk.  But look at whatโ€™s happening and look at how weโ€™re shooting up.  We call it a โ€œsuper V.โ€  Itโ€™s no longer a โ€œVโ€; itโ€™s a โ€œsuper V.โ€  And they didnโ€™t think that could happen, and theyโ€™re probably not happy about it.

They want to punish American citizens instead of holding them high.  Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness.  Weโ€™ve seen heroic doctors and nurses racing into action to save lives.  Weโ€™ve seen first responders helping strangers in need.  Weโ€™ve seen the passage of historic legislation to save 50 million American jobs.  Weโ€™ve mobilized American industry like never before.

Weโ€™ve built military hospitals from scratch, produced lifesaving therapies, and weโ€™re on track to develop the most incredible, from a standpoint of time โ€” record time โ€” vaccines.  We have vaccines.  Youโ€™ll be reading about them very soon.  Way, way ahead of schedule.  Years ahead of schedule.  This would have been, where we are now, phase three trials, clinical trials.  You wouldnโ€™t have been there in two or three years, if you went back to another administration.

Itโ€™s time to reject the anger and the hate of the Democrat Party.  We have the biggest election coming up, of our lifetime.  (Applause.)

No party can lead America that spends so much time tearing down America.  But the biggest part of last nightโ€™s speech was what Joe Biden didnโ€™t talk about.  He didnโ€™t talk about law enforcement.  He didnโ€™t talk about bringing safety to Democrat-run cities that are totally out of control and they have no clue.  China was never mentioned in any way, shape, or form.  China will own our country, if he gets elected.  They will own our country.  And weโ€™re not going to let that happen.  (Applause.)

And youโ€™ve seen the intelligence reports: China very much wants Joe Biden to win.  That would be very insulting if they wanted me to win.  I donโ€™t think so.  (Laughter.)  I donโ€™t think so.

Weโ€™ve taken in billions and billions of dollars from China.  Weโ€™ve given it to our farmers.  Weโ€™ve given it to a lot.  They had the worst year theyโ€™ve had in 67 years; we had the best year we ever had.

Weโ€™ve demonstrated over the last four years the extraordinary gains that are possible while we stand strong for our beliefs, when we trust the wisdom of our Founders, and when we embrace Americaโ€™s destiny.  Itโ€™s a great destiny.

With your help, we carried out the largest tax and regulation cuts, by far, in American history.  And โ€” (applause) โ€” and they now want to quadruple tax us, and they want to quadruple, and beyond, the regulation cuts.  And when we say โ€œtaxโ€ and we say โ€œregulationโ€ and you say, โ€œOh, tax cuts.  Thatโ€™s so wonderful,โ€ โ€” but the people in this room that are the heads of industry โ€” you have some very powerful people in this room โ€” they know that the regulation cuts may have been even more important than the biggest tax cuts weโ€™ve ever had.  (Applause.)

To build a highway in this country, it could take, in certain places, 18, 19, 20, even 21 years to get approved.  This is not even thinkable.  And weโ€™ve got it now down to two, and weโ€™ll have it down to probably one.  And it may get rejected for safety reasons or for environmental reasons.  Thatโ€™s okay; it may happen.  But we have it down โ€” we will soon have it down to one year from as much as 21 years.  We have cases that have just been disastrous.

So I just wanted you to know some of the little details.  But thatโ€™s what weโ€™re working on.  Weโ€™ll have it down to one year to build a highway.  You can do it all in one year.  It doesnโ€™t have to take 21 years and cost 100 times more.  Literally, Iโ€™ve seen 100 times more.

We eliminated Obamacareโ€™s unfair individual mandate penalty, which is really the elimination of Obamacare.  (Applause.)

And to give to critically ill patients access to life-saving drugs, we passed a thing called โ€” and hopefully nobody in this room will need it, but if you do, itโ€™s Right to Try.  We have the greatest medicines, the greatest doctors and labs in the world.  And we have things that wonโ€™t be approved by the FDA for a little while, although Iโ€™ve cut that time now down in half.  It used to be 12 years.  Now weโ€™ve cut it down in more than half.  And you see that with the vaccines.  You see it with the therapeutics.

But Right to Try, where we have the right to now go in and use some of these very promising drugs.  And the response has been unbelievable.  Whatโ€™s happened and the lives saved have been really incredible.  People used to leave for Asia.  They used to leave for Europe.  They used to leave for other places all over the world or theyโ€™d go home and die.  Theyโ€™d go home and die.  If they had no money, theyโ€™d go home and die, which is most people.  Now they sign a very short, simple document, and they have the right to try, and itโ€™s given them hope, and in many cases, itโ€™s given their life back.  So itโ€™s been a great thing.

These are things that nobody talks about but itโ€™s โ€” (applause) โ€” theyโ€™ve been trying to get that approved, by the way.  Not as easy as it sounds.  Itโ€™s complicated because you have the insurance companies and the doctors and the hospitals, and the country itself doesnโ€™t want to get sued.  And so not โ€” not very easy.  But theyโ€™ve been trying to get it approved by โ€” for 41 years, theyโ€™ve been trying to get that.  Thatโ€™s just one of many, many things that weโ€™ve done.  For 41 years.

To provide our amazing veterans the care they deserve, we passed VA Accountability and VA Choice.  Many, many decades, theyโ€™ve been trying to get that.  (Applause.)  Choice, meaning you wait on line and you canโ€™t see a doctor, and they would wait in line for a week or two weeks or five weeks.  Sometimes theyโ€™d be ill, and theyโ€™d end up being terminally ill by the time they saw the doctor.  And weโ€™re letting them go out, get a private doctor immediately, and we pay the bill.

And we just got a 91 percent approval rating in the VA โ€” the highest weโ€™ve ever had by many points.  Ninety-one percent.  (Applause.)

And VA Accountability sounds simple, but itโ€™s not.  You couldnโ€™t let anybody go, no matter how they disrespected our great vets, no matter what they said to them, no matter how badly they treated them.  I mean, we had sadists and we had thieves; we had a lot of bad people.  You couldnโ€™t fire them under any circumstances.  Under any circumstance, you couldnโ€™t fire them.  And now we say, โ€œYou: Youโ€™re fired.โ€  (Laughter and applause.)

Both VA Accountability.  And theyโ€™ve wanted to have that โ€” theyโ€™ve wanted to have that โ€” actually, theyโ€™ve let go of 9,000 people; replaced them with people that love our vets, want to take care of our vets.  And great people.  And we had a terrible thing going.  You couldnโ€™t get them fired because, you know, civil service and unions and different things, you couldnโ€™t fire them.  Now you can fire them, and you can fire them quickly if theyโ€™re not doing the job.

Itโ€™s a big deal.  And we donโ€™t talk about it a lot, nobody talks about it, but theyโ€™ve been trying to get those two things approved for more than four decades.  And now theyโ€™re done and theyโ€™re approved.

We ended the Obama-Biden administrationโ€™s war on American energy.  And the United States is now the leading producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world.  Itโ€™s a big thing.  (Applause.)

And remember this: If you look at what theyโ€™re doing โ€” Biden โ€” he wants to end fracking, end petroleum products โ€” end petroleum.  No natural gas, no nothing.  End everything.  And thatโ€™s it.  How does that work in Texas?  How does that work in Pennsylvania?

I was in Pennsylvania yesterday, a place that he said he was born in, which is true, but he left when he was like nine years old.  (Laughter.)  So he left a long time ago.  Left โ€” he left seven decades ago.  (Laughter.)  And he still calls it his home.  And his real home is a place he never leaves anymore.  (Laughter and applause.)  He just never leaves.  He never leaves the outskirts of that state.  Youโ€™d think youโ€™d go a little bit, you know.  Itโ€™s not that far.  Never leaves.  Weโ€™ll figure it out pretty soon.

But they want to end fracking.  They want to end drilling.  They want to end everything.  They want to end all of that.  So I said โ€” think of it: They want to end oil.  They want to end โ€” and this is the way it is โ€” guns.  They want to take away Second Amendment, right?  How about that?

AUDIENCE:  Booo โ€”

THE PRESIDENT:  That alone should win you the election.  Right?  That alone.  (Applause.)

And โ€”

AUDIENCE:  Four more years!  Four more years!  Four more years!

THE PRESIDENT:  And I protected your Second Amendment.  Did you think that was easy for the last four years?  (Laughter.)  Everyone is, โ€œOh, look, heโ€™s wilting.  Heโ€™s wilting.โ€  And โ€” no, weโ€™re not wilting.  And weโ€™ve had people that were in tragedies, and they lost a son in a school and they lost a daughter, beautiful Meadow.  And that gentleman has been a friend of mine โ€” he knows exactly who Iโ€™m talking about.  Beautiful Meadow.  Theyโ€™re totally in favor.  Theyโ€™ve actually gotten hardline on Second Amendment.  Itโ€™s not one way.  Itโ€™s an incredible thing to see, actually.

But we held totally strong, and itโ€™s always going to be with us.  But if they get in, they will absolutely โ€” either obliterate it to a point of no return or actually terminate it.  And I have no doubt about it.  I have absolutely no doubt about it.  Itโ€™s something we canโ€™t let happen โ€” such a big part of our security and our safety โ€” and your entertainment and all, but I say security and safety probably first, right?

And God โ€” itโ€™s an attack on God.  Itโ€™s an attack on religion.  Did you see the man that got up and sang a very, very special phrase from a very, very special thing?  And he left the word โ€œGodโ€ out and I was watching, and I said, โ€œOh, he must have made a mistake.โ€  I didnโ€™t think that he left it out.  I thought maybe he โ€” you know, that can happen.  Maybe he made a mistake.  He didnโ€™t make a mistake.  Thatโ€™s where theyโ€™re coming from.  He left the word โ€œGodโ€ out.  And thatโ€™s where theyโ€™re coming from.

I withdrew from the one-sided Pari- โ€” if you โ€” if you see it, the Paris Climate โ€” I call it the Paris Climate disaster.  This was a way of โ€” (applause) โ€” this was a way of taking advantage of the United States.  We wouldnโ€™t be able to drill; we wouldnโ€™t be able to frack; we wouldnโ€™t have energy.  Russia went way back into the dirtiest years.  China didnโ€™t even come into it until 2030 or 2035, and when they did, they came in very lightly.  We came in immediately, and we would have had to close down many, many businesses in order to achieve the goals that they set, which are totally unrealistic.  We would have โ€” it was a disaster.

And, you know, itโ€™s an amazing thing: When I did that and when I did a couple of others โ€” the environmental bills, the Clean Waters Act.  How about that?  It sounds so beautiful.  The theme is so beautiful.  In fact, when I did it, I said Iโ€™m going to be killed on this one, and I did it.  And I was surrounded by farmers and developers, builders that build houses, and others.  And they never cried; theyโ€™re very strong people.  They never cried a day in their life.  They were almost all crying.  I said, โ€œWhat wasโ€ฆโ€ โ€” it was a big, strong guy โ€” โ€œโ€ฆwhen was the last time you cried?โ€  โ€œI canโ€™t remember, sir.โ€  I gave them back their life.  You know, that took away โ€” (applause) โ€” right? โ€” that took away โ€” that took away their life.

And what we did in Minnesota with the iron ore: People came up to me and they said, โ€œYou gave us back our life.  Obama wrote it out.โ€  Iron ore โ€” the best in the world โ€” he wrote it out.  We gave it back to them.

We went up to Maine; we gave them back their lobsters.  We gave them back their fishing.  (Applause.)  Five thousand square miles.  Think of what that is.  Take one mile, mile by mile, and now you add five thou- โ€” as big as the ocean is, that was a big chunk, right off the coast of Maine.  Their whole thing is like lobsters and fishing, and nobody does it better.  And they were not allowed.  It was a monument; called a โ€œmonument.โ€  I said, โ€œA monument to what?โ€  I said to the โ€” when I was up in Maine two weeks ago, I said โ€” (laughter) โ€” I said to people that their whole life was lobster fishing โ€” you know, the different things โ€” and theyโ€™re the best.

I said, โ€œWhat happened?โ€  They said, โ€œHe took away our โ€” took away our everything.โ€  I said, โ€œHow does this area compare to other areas?โ€  He said, โ€œFirst of all, it takes a long time to get to the other areas, this is so big.  But second of all, this is the best there is in the world, and he doesnโ€™t let us use it.โ€  And I said, โ€œAnd yet, you vote Democrat.โ€  And so I โ€” (laughter) โ€” (inaudible).

Itโ€™s like Israel.  Look what I did for Israel.  (Applause.)  Thank you.  But itโ€™s amazing to me because nobody has been worse to Israel than President Obama and Biden.  Nobody.  Nobody has been worse.  Look at the Iran deal.  Itโ€™s the worst thing that ever happened to Israel.  And they never moved the embassy to Jerusalem, thereby making Jerusalem the capital of Israel, which I did, and neither did any other president, and I understand why.  They campaign on it, campaign.  Every President said they were going to do; no President did it until I came along.  (Applause.)

And the pressure โ€” and I will tell you, the pressure from other parts of the world was enormous.  And Iโ€™ve told the story a few times where I just turned off my phone, and when the king calls and this one calls and that one calls โ€” โ€œWeโ€™re calling about Israelโ€ โ€” I say, โ€œTell them Iโ€™ll get back in a couple of days.โ€  (Laughter.)  โ€œIโ€™ll get back in a couple of days.  Iโ€™ll be in next week.โ€  (Laughter.)  Kings and queens and prime ministers and presidents and dictators โ€” everybody was calling: โ€œDonโ€™t do it.  Donโ€™t do it.  Itโ€™ll be bloodshed all over the Middle East.โ€  Look what we just did โ€” right? โ€” with the United Arab Emirates and Israel.  (Applause.)  And now others will follow.

And we couldnโ€™t have done that if we had the deal with Iran, but they said, โ€œDonโ€™t do it.  Donโ€™t do it with Israel.  Donโ€™t do it.โ€  And I didnโ€™t take their call, and I did it.  Had a ceremony.  It was fine.  Nothing happened.  Remember?  The world was going to blow up.  โ€œThis will be the end of the world.โ€  So I held my breath, and I did it.  And you know what happened?  Nothing.  Except we did something that should have been done many, many decades ago.  And every President violated their promise, their campaign promise, except me.  And I did it.  By the way, I ended in Golan Heights; that was a big one too, by itself.  (Applause.)

And I did it, and, you know, itโ€™s incredible.  I then call up these heads of state, many of whom are friends of mine.  I get along โ€” actually, you donโ€™t hear this from the fake news back there.  A lot of โ€” oh, thereโ€™s a lot of a lot of press.  A lot of press.  But, you know, you donโ€™t hear this from the people back there, but I actually have very good relationships with leaders, with many of them.  And some of them just take too much advantage of our country, including some of our so-called allies.  You know, some of them are the worst for taking advantage of us.  But you donโ€™t hear that.

Then โ€” so what I did is I called some of the leaders the following week.  โ€œHi.  How you doing?  Whatโ€™s up.โ€  โ€œOh, we wanted to talk to you about Israel, but you already did it.โ€  I said, โ€œOh, I wish I got to you a little bit sooner.โ€  (Laughter.)  But thatโ€™s easier โ€” thatโ€™s easier than having somebody asking you over and over, โ€œPlease donโ€™t do it.โ€  But I could see there was a lot of pressure.  Iโ€™d never understood why it wasnโ€™t done.

It wasnโ€™t done because thereโ€™s tremendous pressure put on the President of the United States by many other countries, much more than you would think and different countries than you would even think.  Countries that you wouldnโ€™t think even cared about it were calling, asking not to do it.

So we did it, and itโ€™s been really quite historic, I guess.  And I could run in Israel, and I think they set up probably a 98 percent approval rating in Israel.  (Laughter and applause.)  So itโ€™s been โ€” itโ€™s been good.

And you know who appreciates it the most are the evangelical Christians.  They appreciate it the most.  (Applause.)  So itโ€™s been โ€” itโ€™s been quite a interest- โ€” that was โ€” that has been, just by itself โ€” thatโ€™s one thing out of many, many things, but thatโ€™s been quite an interesting journey.

But we also took historic action to stand up to Chinaโ€™s trade cheating and plundering.  You know that.  We had the best year we ever had, and theyโ€™ve had the worst year theyโ€™ve had in 67 years.  I wonder why.  And I donโ€™t want them to have bad years, but there has been nobody that has ripped off the United States like China for so many years.  How Presidents before me allow that to happen, and especially the one just before me.

And Joe Biden, with his son walking out with $1.5 billion to manage โ€” meaning, many millions of dollars a year in fees โ€” is a disgrace, okay?  Heโ€™s a disgrace.  (Applause.)  And then the vast sums of money he was paid by Ukrainian โ€” a Ukrainian company that didnโ€™t have the highest standing, to put it mildly, but the vast sums of money โ€” if that ever happened to a Republican, they would have been in jail a long time ago.  Itโ€™s such a double standard โ€” I canโ€™t tell you.  This whole thing with all of the things that happened.

The deep state โ€” you can believe it; you donโ€™t have to believe it โ€” but itโ€™s very unfair.  And I will say that if a Republican ever did what Joe Biden did, with calling off the prosecutors or youโ€™re not going to get a billion dollars.  And heโ€™s on tape; itโ€™s not like, โ€œOh, gee.โ€  I mean, heโ€™s on tape.  We wouldnโ€™t have had a chance.  Itโ€™s a disgrace.  The double standard is a disgrace.  And hopefully itโ€™ll be brought back to fairness.

And remember this: They spied on my campaign and they got caught.  They can say what they want.  This FBI agent has just now โ€” first one โ€” admitted.  Thatโ€™s the beginning, hopefully, of the falling castle.  But heโ€™s admitted that he forged documents.  He changed documents, reversing them.  And he admitted it.

So letโ€™s see whatโ€™s going to happen over the next, hopefully, short period of time, because itโ€™s been unfair that weโ€™ve had to wait so long; that was so obvious for a long time.  And it should never be allowed to happen to another President again โ€” that, I can tell you.  And thatโ€™s for the good of the country, not for me.  For the good of the country.  (Applause.)

Within three years, we replaced NAFTA โ€” which everybody said was impossible to do โ€” with the brand-new and really pro-America USMCA.  Itโ€™s a whole different ballgame, and we donโ€™t want to lose our companies to Mexico and Canada.  And this puts a tremendous price tag on doing that if they want to do that.  They wonโ€™t be doing that.

In everything we do, my administration is fighting for the American people and delivering one victory after another.  We have appointed more than 230 federal judges.  We expect to be perhaps over 300 federal judges by the end of the year.  (Applause.)

And thereโ€™s โ€” I can tell you, itโ€™s driving them crazy.  (Laughter.)  Donโ€™t forget, President Obama โ€” they say he was a great President.  Well, you canโ€™t be a great President when much of what heโ€™s done weโ€™ve undone.  And you canโ€™t be a great President when you leave 142 empty judgeships.  You know, I donโ€™t think any President has left any.  You donโ€™t leave โ€” these are very, very important things for a party.  Different policies, different everything.  You understand it better than anybody, the people in this room.  Left us 142.

First day in office, I said, โ€œHow many judges do I have to appoint?โ€  โ€œSir, you have 142.โ€  I said, โ€œYou have to be kidding.โ€  (Laughter.)  One hundred and forty โ€” so I had a big head start.  But we have 142, but now we will have, I think, in excess โ€” by the time we finish โ€” in excess of 300, including Court of Appeals.  And, of course, two very exceptional Supreme Court justices.  So itโ€™s really great.  (Applause.)

And remember this, in terms of, โ€œGet Out the Voteโ€ โ€” the next President, I think, could have anywhere from two to four, to maybe even five โ€” just based on statistics; statistically โ€” Supreme Court justices to pick.  Think of that: Iโ€™ve had two.  Some โ€” some Presidents have had none because you, generally, pick them young, and they last a long time, right?  They can last a long time.

But โ€” but we could have two to three to four, maybe even to five.  Itโ€™s probably a stretch, but four isnโ€™t a stretch at all.  That would mean that the entire balance of the court doesnโ€™t just shift: It becomes dominant.  So, if we โ€” if we donโ€™t win, which we donโ€™t want to think about โ€” we have to think positively.  And the polls today, Rasmussen: 51 percent.  And they were the ones that got it right last time.  Them, and a few others.  (Applause.)  Fifty-one percent.  They donโ€™t want to show those polls.  They only want to show those polls โ€” not โ€œlikelyโ€ voters โ€” โ€œregistered voters.โ€  What does that mean?  Many are dead?  (Laughter.)  Many have switched their party affiliations.  You know, โ€œregistered.โ€  They donโ€™t show โ€œlikely.โ€

But you see some of these polls where they interview many more Democrats than Republicans, and they have to, I guess, by law, put it in โ€” you know, they interviewed โ€” but many more. And they donโ€™t go โ€œlikely.โ€  Why donโ€™t they do โ€œlikelyโ€ voters?  Because I think theyโ€™d be very upset.  I think they know theyโ€™d be very upset.

Bottom line: Weโ€™re doing very well.  We have the biggest crowds.  I think thereโ€™s more enthusiasm now, for this election, than there was even โ€” itโ€™s record enthusiasm, by the way. Record-setting enthusiasm, right now.  Itโ€™s more now than we had even four years ago.  Does that make sense?  (Applause.)

And we had the same โ€” we had the same thing, four years ago, where theyโ€™d say โ€” but now weโ€™ve done so much.  You know, this is easier, in many ways.  We were sailing โ€” by the way, without the plague from China, this thing was over.  This was over.  We were sailing.  But that came in, and then you have to prove yourself again.  So now I have to prove myself again.

But weโ€™re doing that.  Weโ€™re building up the economy.  And weโ€™re way ahead, by every poll โ€” even the fake polls โ€” weโ€™re way ahead on the economy, which is very important.  (Laughter.)  But we are.  I mean, think of it: You prove yourself.  Youโ€™re in this, and now you have to do it again.  But thatโ€™s what weโ€™re doing.  We have the โ€œV.โ€  We have the super โ€œVโ€ we can talk about.

But with the help of countless faith leaders โ€” many of you are in the room; we appreciate it โ€” we passed historic criminal justice reform.  (Applause.)  And nobody has done more for the black community or the Hispanic community than we have. Nobody.  Nobody.  (Applause.)  I guess, maybe Lincoln.  Questionable.  Abraham Lincoln.  But nobody has โ€” I donโ€™t think anybody, with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln.  But nobody has done more.  If you look at Opportunity Zones, you look at all of the things weโ€™ve done โ€” nobody has done more.

After years of neglect by both parties, my administration understands that a strong nation must have strong borders.  (Applause.)  By next week, we will have gone up to over, as I say, 300 miles.  Thatโ€™s hard to believe.  And that was tough. They didnโ€™t want it.  Do you notice now that weโ€™re building it, you donโ€™t hear about it anymore?  Itโ€™s โ€” (laughter).

They donโ€™t want to talk about it anymore, and itโ€™s a bad issue for the Democrats because everyone knows walls work.  You know, itโ€™s interesting: No matter โ€” with all the technology and all the changes you see, you donโ€™t recognize a computer from five years ago.  Itโ€™s not even recognizable.  Two things donโ€™t change, right?  Walls and wheels.  (Laughter.)  And you can come back โ€” you can come back in 2,000 years from now, and two things will still be around: wheels and walls.  (Laughter.)  Remember when they were saying, โ€œThe wall doesnโ€™t do anything.โ€  They wanted to have a drone flying around.  You know, flying around (inaudible), so you could watch everybody pour into our country.  (Laughter.)

Weโ€™ve ended catch-and-release, one of the great scams of all time.  (Applause.)  Catch-and-release.  Weโ€™d catch them and release them.  They should say โ€œcatch and release into our countryโ€ because you catch them, and then you release them, and you werenโ€™t allowed to bring them.  Now we bring them back.  We absolutely bring them back.

Weโ€™ve dismantled drug smuggling and human trafficking of โ€” these networks are horrible.  (Applause.)  The human trafficking in women, which has turned out โ€” you think of it as almost an ancient crime, but itโ€™s not.  Itโ€™s bigger now, all over the world, than itโ€™s ever been because of the computer, because of the Internet.  Itโ€™s bigger now than ever before.  Itโ€™s a horrible thing.  Much of it through the southern border.  But all over the world, this is taking place, and weโ€™ve brought it down to levels that nobody thought even possible.  But itโ€™s a terrible thing.  Mostly trafficking in women โ€” children to a lesser extent, but women.

Weโ€™ve removed 20,000 gang members, including 4,500 MS-13 members, and we brought them back to their countries.  And their countries, under the Obama administration, didnโ€™t want to take people.  You know that, right?  They didnโ€™t want to take them. Theyโ€™d say, โ€œNo, donโ€™t bring them back here.  Weโ€™re not taking them.โ€  Guatemala, El Salvador โ€” right? โ€” Honduras.  They wouldnโ€™t want to โ€” they wouldnโ€™t take people back.  Now they take them back.  They say, โ€œOh, thank you very much.โ€  (Applause.)

The last administration left us with a Middle East in chaos.  This was a Middle East in chaos.  Iran was empowered and exporting terror.  They donโ€™t have too much money now.  Theyโ€™re not spending billions of dollars, giving it to al Qaeda, Hezbollah, some of these wonderful groups that are totally vicious, crazed lunatics.

But Iran is different.  Itโ€™s having a hard time.  Its GDP went down at a level that you wouldnโ€™t even believe โ€” in the 20s โ€” and theyโ€™ll make a deal.  I say theyโ€™ll make a deal within a month, but I probably mean a week.  But I just want to be right.  (Laughter.)  Because theyโ€™ll call me.  Theyโ€™ll say, โ€œIt took 10 days.  He was wrong.โ€  (Laughter.)  They just want to see โ€” if I win, theyโ€™ll be in making a deal.  And if for some reason I donโ€™t, theyโ€™ll take their time, and they will get one of the great deals, since the last one, where we paid them $150 billion.  A billion.  Gave them $150 [billion] for nothing.  It wasnโ€™t even a long-term deal.  It was โ€” you know, right now, the time is almost up.  This was like a short-term deal.  It was like you rent a store in a shopping center.  This โ€” these are countries weโ€™re dealing with.  You need length.  But it was a short-term deal.

But more importantly, we gave them $1.8 billion in cash.  Think of that: Cash.  Cash.  We flew it in, in Boeing 757s loaded from floor to ceiling with cash.  What were these people thinking?  And had I kept that deal โ€” we terminated that deal โ€” had I kept that deal, we could never have started this incredible thing thatโ€™s happening with UAE, Israel.  And everybody is saying, โ€œWhy havenโ€™t you invited us?โ€  โ€œOkay, weโ€™reโ€ฆโ€ โ€” many countries now want to come in.

This was an impossible thing to even conceive of.  Impossible.  (Applause.)  Even Tom Friedman at the New York Times gave us an A-plus.  Can you believe it?  He couldnโ€™t even believe it. I wouldnโ€™t say heโ€™s been a big fan.  (Laughter.)  But the New York Times gave us the best editorial Iโ€™ve had.  I canโ€™t even believe it.  Iโ€™m surprised they did it.  Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™ve changed it by now, and they โ€” (laughter).  Somebody got in and they said, โ€œWho wrote that editorial?โ€  They probably lost their job.  But Tom Friedman actually wrote the editorial.  It was very fair.  Itโ€™s true.  He couldnโ€™t believe it.  Itโ€™s a โ€” itโ€™s gotten great reviews from everybody: Wall Street Journal, Washington Post.  Can you believe that one?  Everybody gave it.

And we couldnโ€™t have done that deal had we stayed in this horrible deal done by John Kerry, who just had no clue as to negotiation.  He never got up.  They would tell him, โ€œWe want this, we want this, we want thisโ€ฆโ€  And heโ€™d sit there, and heโ€™d agree to everything.  Sometimes you have to get up and walk.  He never got up and walked.  Once he rode his bicycle โ€” remember? โ€” and he was in an accident.  (Laughter.)  I promised: At 73-years old, I said, โ€œIโ€™ll never be riding a bicycle.โ€  He was โ€” he had the helmet.  He had the names, the insignias all over him.  He had insignias like, you know, like he was a 20-year-old great cyclist from France.  (Laughter.)

So that delayed him about two months.  They said, โ€œHe just got hurt in a bicycle accident.โ€  What?  Itโ€™s not a good accident when youโ€™re โ€” so I promised I wouldnโ€™t do that.  I might get hurt, but Iโ€™m not getting hurt riding a bicycle.  (Laughter.)

But if you look at the Obama administration, ISIS was rampaging all over.  Iโ€™ve defeated 100 percent of the ISIS caliphate in Iraq and Syria.  (Applause.)

Yesterday, we had the Prime Minister of Iraq in my office, and he made a statement.  He said, โ€œSir, I want to thank you. You have defeated ISIS.โ€  I said, โ€œWait a minute, when you say thatโ€ฆโ€  Nobody ever says that.  Those people back there donโ€™t say it.  โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€  He said, โ€œYou.โ€  I said, โ€œDo you mean Obama?  Do you mean the United States?โ€  โ€œSir, Obama โ€” it was a disaster.  When you took over, ISIS was in 30 percent of our country.  You came in, and you defeated.โ€  I said, โ€œWould you please go public with that?โ€  So, he said, โ€œI would.โ€  He would.  But itโ€™s true.

I mean, we defeated 100 percent of the caliphate, and we turned it all around.  We rebuilt the United States military โ€” $2.5 trillion. We have a brand-new, beautiful military.  (Applause.)  And as I said, with Israel, you know, we โ€” we got out of the Iran nuclear deal, which was such a horrible thing for Israel.  But I asked a friend of mine whoโ€™s a big fan of Israel โ€” I said, โ€œSo what was the best?  Golan Heights, Jerusalem capital?  What was โ€” what was more important of the two?โ€  Golan Heights, which theyโ€™ve been working on for 52 years โ€” recognition of Golan Heights for Israel, right?  Fifty-two years.  Planes would fly in.  Theyโ€™d have summits every year or two.  Planes would fly in.  Theyโ€™d talk.  Theyโ€™d talk.  They kept talking.  Two days later, the planes would fly out.  Then theyโ€™d meet two years later.  Fifty-two years they went through that.  I got it done immediately.

And I said, โ€œWhich is more important: Golan Heights or Jerusalem capital?โ€  And he said, โ€œNeither.โ€  I said, โ€œWhat you mean โ€˜neitherโ€™?โ€  He said, โ€œThe most important is when you withdrew from that horrible and very dangerous Iran nuclear deal.  That was the greatest thing you did for Israel.โ€  (Applause.)  Itโ€™s very interesting.  And I said, โ€œI agree.โ€  I actually said โ€” I said, โ€œI agree.โ€

We imposed the toughest-ever U.S. sanctions on Iran, and this week we invoked the snapback provisions to restore virtually all of the previously suspended U.N. sanctions.  We snapped back โ€” itโ€™s a good term.

The founder and leader of ISIS, al-Baghdadi, is dead.  (Applause.)  We killed him.  And the worldโ€™s top terrorist โ€” probably over 50 years, the top terrorist โ€” Qasem Soleimani โ€” is dead.  (Applause.)  Heโ€™s dead.  Heโ€™s gone.

But the more success that weโ€™ve achieved, the more unhinged the radical left has become.  Anarchists and violent mobs have rioted in our Democrat-run cities, attacking our police, and tearing down statues.  And, as you know, I signed a โ€” a clause.  I got an old bill.  You know, when they used to do powerful things, when they knew what the hell they were doing.  (Laughter.)  I took an old bill, and I gave a nice, beautiful, brand-new executive order.  It says, very easily โ€” could you imagine getting this today? โ€” you rip down a statue, a federal statue, you go to jail โ€” prison; they use the term โ€œprisonโ€ โ€” you go to prison for 10 years.  (Applause.)

And I remember there was a big march on Washington.  They were coming in to knock a lot of statues down.  And they had a โ€” they even had Thomas Jefferson planned.  That was in their planning.  No, thanks.  George Washington.  They were even thinking about Lincoln.  You know, Lincoln did sort of a pretty good job, right?  (Laughter.)  But they were talking about anybody.  I donโ€™t even know if they knew what they were doing.  They were just wild and out of control.

But I signed this โ€” 10 years in prison if you knock down a statue.  We have people right now in jail that are going to trial, by the way.  And that was from previous to signing.  (Applause.)

But, if you remember, that was a big thing two and a half months ago.  You know when I signed it?  Two and a half months ago.  (Laughter.)  Two and a half months ago, I signed it.  We havenโ€™t had a problem since.  They say, โ€œYou know, we want to knock down that statue, but, you know, 10 years โ€” letโ€™s see.  Ten years.  Thatโ€™s a lot of time.  Thatโ€™s a lot of time.โ€  (Applause.)  Which tells you that, you know, laws, if properly utilized, can stop all of this madness.  And thatโ€™s why we have to give our great police back their dignity and their power.  (Applause.)

Iโ€™ve been endorsed by almost every police organization in the country.  We just got, the other day โ€” Pat Lynch, the head of New York City Police, endorsed me.  First endorsement โ€” he said, to the best of his knowledge, which is a lot of knowledge, the first time theyโ€™ve ever endorsed a candidate for President.  Thatโ€™s good.  They donโ€™t endorse.  The first time ever.  (Applause.)

All the sheriffs in Florida.  Dan can tell you: all of the law enforcement in Texas, right?  All of the law enforcement in Texas, Dan.  So, itโ€™s good.  And just about everywhere, we have tremendous support.

And youโ€™re always going to have bad apples, by the way.  Youโ€™ve got some bad apples.  And youโ€™re going to have it โ€” probably, in this room, we might have one or two.  But you have bad apples.

But these are great people that do a phenomenal job, that actually are appreciated by the public.  By the public, theyโ€™re appreciated, and theyโ€™re loved and theyโ€™re respected.  And the public doesnโ€™t want to happen whatโ€™s happening to our police.  They took away their dignity, they took away their right to do the job that they want to do, and theyโ€™re doing the job now.  And, for me, they do the job.

And you look at most cities in our country โ€” you know, crime is actually down.  You look at Chicago, and you say, โ€œHow is that possible?โ€  You look at New York, whatโ€™s happened just in a short period of time.  But weโ€™re with them, and theyโ€™re with us, and theyโ€™ve done a fantastic job.  All right?  (Applause.)

So the future of our country, and indeed our civilization, is at stake on November 3rd.  Earlier this summer, murders rose by 29 percent in New York City, 33 percent in Philadelphia, 53 percent in Chicago, 133 percent in Minneapolis.  These are all Democrat-run places.  These are Democrat-run โ€” I might say โ€œradical-left Democrat,โ€ in some cases.

But these are people that donโ€™t have any clue what theyโ€™re doing.  They have no idea.  I donโ€™t even think they know that itโ€™s bad, whatโ€™s going on.  You know, youโ€™d almost say theyโ€™re trying to defend it.  Itโ€™s incredible to hear them.  But thatโ€™s why I launched Operation LeGend, which has led to the arrest of 1,500 criminals since July.

And the radical left spent four years trying to illegally overturn the last election; theyโ€™re still trying to overturn.  Hillary Clinton โ€” remember the โ€” Hillary Clinton: โ€œWill you honor the election?โ€  (Laughter.)  Right?  The results of the election.  That was Hillary Clinton.  And she should have asked that question to herself.  (Laughter.)  Sheโ€™s like a crazed lunatic.  Sheโ€™s a lunatic.  (Applause.)  She is something, Iโ€™ll tell you.

But somebody said, โ€œWhatโ€™s the difference between Clinton and Biden?โ€  Should I say?  Should I tell you?  Well, Clinton is much smarter, but not a likable person.  Joe is not nearly as smart, but heโ€™s more likable.

So, you know, I donโ€™t know, maybe Iโ€™d rather have the smarter person.  (Laughter.)  Who cares about personality, right?  But thatโ€™s the difference.  Very simple, isnโ€™t it?  Huh?  Itโ€™s a very simple thing.

But thatโ€™s why we have to win.  We have to win.  (Applause.)

So now the Democrats are planning to permanently alter our political system so their control is never threatened again.  They want to pack the court with radical-left justices; abolish the filibuster, which, frankly, I wish we did it because I said, โ€œTheyโ€™re going to do it, so we might as well get there first.โ€  But I couldnโ€™t get a couple of people to go along with me.  But, you know, my attitude was, โ€œSchumer is going to do it.โ€  And they all said, โ€œNo, heโ€™ll never do that.  Heโ€™ll never do that.โ€  Guess what?  Theyโ€™re doing it.  Theyโ€™re doing it.

And as much as weโ€™ve done โ€” weโ€™ve done more than anybody has ever done in three and a half years.  But you know what?  As much as weโ€™ve done โ€” we would have done more had we done that, because getting those extra 10 votes was almost impossible with these people.  Almost impossible.  So I wish we had done it.  I wanted to do it, but we had some obstacle and obstacles.

Will grant โ€” they want to grant mass amnesty for millions of people.  And citizenship, they want to give too many million illegal aliens โ€” probably about 11 million, at least โ€” and abolish โ€” they want to abolish voter ID.  They want to abolish voter ID.

To get into the DNC convention last night, you needed an ID with your picture on it.  Now, what does that tell you about โ€” (laughter) โ€” no, to get in last night, a friend of mine was saying โ€” a friend of mine who happened to be there.  I said, โ€œWhy were you there?โ€  (Laughter.)  And โ€” no, a very political person.  But he shows me โ€” he said, โ€œHereโ€™s the ID.  Itโ€™s got my picture.  Itโ€™s like the most incredibleโ€ฆโ€  Itโ€™s a disgrace.

Thereโ€™s only one reason they donโ€™t want voter ID, and thatโ€™s because they want to cheat.  Thatโ€™s all.  It cannot be anything else.  (Applause.)

I mean, you have it on everything.  You have it on driverโ€™s licenses.  You have it on everything, just about.  And the only thing โ€” the only one they donโ€™t want it on is a vote, which is your most important โ€” the most important thing you have is your vote.  And they donโ€™t want it.

We have it in some states โ€” Indiana.  You know, we have some great, really, voter ID.  They want to abolish it where it is and never allow it to happen again.  And thatโ€™s only a bad โ€” thatโ€™s only a bad thing.  Thatโ€™s only a bad thing.

To everyone in this room, your organization was formed at a time when conservatives led the fight to turn back the tide of communism abroad, communism here.  Itโ€™s a very important organization.

Now Americans must rally to turn back the radical-left socialists and Marxists right here at home.  And you see that when you see these people rioting in Portland, where you see the anger, the craziness.  These people are crazy.  Theyโ€™re crazy.

And we wonโ€™t let it go on much longer, by the way, because you know, theyโ€™re supposed to police their own town, but weโ€™re not going to let it go on much longer.  (Applause.)  Because at some point, we have to say, โ€œOkay, youโ€™ve had enough time to police your town.โ€  And, by the way, they have good police.  They have good โ€” Portland has good police, but theyโ€™re not โ€” again, theyโ€™re not allowed to do their job.

If our opponents prevail, no one will be safe in our country, and no one will be spared.  No one will be spared, including the people that help fund.  They think theyโ€™re going to be best pals; theyโ€™re not going to be best pals.  Theyโ€™ll be terminated, just like many others.

Iโ€™m the only thing standing between the American Dream and total anarchy, madness, and chaos.  And thatโ€™s what it is.  Iโ€™m representing you.  Iโ€™m just here.  And Iโ€™m not sure itโ€™s an enviable position, but thatโ€™s what it is.  (Applause.)  Thatโ€™s what it is.

AUDIENCE:  USA!  USA!  USA!

THE PRESIDENT:  You know, when I made that statement, I was a little embarrassed by it because it sounds so egotistical.  Itโ€™s like an egotistical statement.  And I was a little embarrassed: โ€œIโ€™m the only one.โ€  But there was no other way to say it.  We have to win the election.  Iโ€™m the one.  If we win, all of these things that we talked about: pro-life, by the way.  By the way.  (Applause.)  Second Amendment, by the way.  (Applause.)

If we โ€” if we donโ€™t win, itโ€™s all gone.  Okay?  Itโ€™s all gone.  And we mentioned โ€” I have to mention life.  All gone.  Second Amendment, gone.  Itโ€™s all gone.  And many other things.  It will be a totally different country.  It will be a totally different country, and ultimately, it will fail.  It will fail.  It canโ€™t work.  Economically, it canโ€™t work.  Weโ€™ll go into a depression โ€” and Iโ€™m very good at predicting these things.  We will go into pre- โ€” a depression, no different than โ€” maybe worse โ€” no different than what happened in 1929.  Your stocks will crash, your 401(k)s will be worthless.  This is going to happen.

And the radical left will bring him along so quickly.  I donโ€™t know if you saw the congresswoman the other day, where she said, โ€œHe will do whatever I tell him to do.  Heโ€™s perfect.  He will do whatever I tell him to do.โ€  This is a congresswoman.

And Bernie Sanders was saying the same thing.  Bernie Sanders was saying, โ€œLook, weโ€™ll just let him be in there, and then weโ€™ll โ€” when he gets in, weโ€™ll take it over.โ€  Thatโ€™s whatโ€™s going to happen, because thatโ€™s where their party is.  Itโ€™s โ€” itโ€™s become a sick ideology.  And we have to win.  We will solve the problem very quickly, very easily.  We have to win.

I donโ€™t like this mail-in ballot deal.  Theyโ€™re going to send out 51 million mail-in ballots to people that havenโ€™t requested them.  Well, where are they going?  Look at what happened in New York with Carolyn Maloney, a cong- โ€” a small race.  And they declared her the winner.  They donโ€™t even have the ballots.  Itโ€™s so mixed up, so fraudulent.  And the only reason they declared her a winner is because โ€” I was right up โ€” I said, โ€œWait, whatโ€™s going on?โ€  Six weeks and they couldnโ€™t count the votes.  Thatโ€™s one little race.

Whatโ€™s going to happen when you have 150 million votes?  And you have 51 million โ€” 51 million votes โ€” think of it: Theyโ€™re going to send out 51 million.  It could be higher than that.  Fifty-one million votes โ€” no signature verification on many of them.  In Nevada, no signature verification.  In New Jersey, no signature verification.

In New Jersey, the governor passed it and didnโ€™t even have the legislature approve it.  He did it with an executive order, which is interesting.  I mean, how do you do this?  But think of it, just from โ€” you donโ€™t have to know anything about politics.  You donโ€™t have to know anything.  Just common sense, right?  And a lot of you are great businesspeople.

Fifty-one million โ€” itโ€™s not an absentee ballot where you request it, they send it, you send it back.  Itโ€™s โ€” itโ€™s good, like in Florida.  This is โ€” 51 million people are going to get ballots to send in.  So if itโ€™s them, letโ€™s say, that are doing it โ€” and itโ€™s mostly Democrat states that want it and the Democrat governors โ€” theyโ€™re going to send them to certain areas, I guess.  Right?  I guess.  So, people are going to be getting them and say, โ€œOh, all right.  Thatโ€™s fine.โ€  And theyโ€™ll send it back.

In some of them, harvesting is allowed โ€” thatโ€™s where you harvest them all together.  In Nevada, harvesting is allowed.  So theyโ€™ll go all over the world and theyโ€™ll get people to sign them.  โ€œHey, you used to be here.โ€  They go all over the world to get โ€” and theyโ€™ll harvest them, and theyโ€™ll drop thousands of them on a table, just before the election.

The other thing is, if you do this, youโ€™ll never have an election count on November 3rd.  You know the way we enjoyed โ€” well, we enjoyed; Iโ€™m not sure they did.  They didnโ€™t enjoy it.  (Laughter.)  But, you know, the greatest evening ever was four years ago, right?  (Applause.)  And that night โ€” that night, four years ago โ€” that was an extraordinary night.  But we knew that night โ€” in fact, we knew it before โ€” we really knew before nine oโ€™clock, even though it took, like, two oโ€™clock to call it.  They refused to call Pennsylvania, which we had.

If we lost every single vote โ€” right?  Remember: There was two points โ€” two left.  And โ€” two points left.  And if we lost every vote, we won Pennsylvania.  They refused to call it.  But they called Wisconsin, they called Michigan, they called places that havenโ€™t done, really, very well for Republicans.

But, you know, if you look at Michigan now, weโ€™re building many car plants.  They hadnโ€™t built car plants in 42 years.  Weโ€™re expanding and building car plants.  I mean, a lot of good things are going to happen.

But youโ€™re not going to be able to know the end of this election, in my opinion, for weeks, months โ€” maybe never.  It may be years, but maybe never.  Because once you go past the first week, youโ€™re never going to know.  Whatโ€™s going to happen?  Theyโ€™re going to be taking them and hiding them.  You saw what happened in Broward County, in Florida, where they were, every day, 10,000 gone โ€” 10,000.

Rick Scott โ€” it was great the way he did that, and we helped them a lot.  And Governor DeSantis, right?  Ten thousand.  Ten thousand.  Ten โ€” if we wouldโ€™ve waited a couple of days, you wouldnโ€™t have had the same governor and you wouldnโ€™t have had the same senator.  We took very strong action, because it was obvious what was going on.

So now youโ€™re going to have 51 million ballots, Tom.  Where is Tom?  Hi, Tom.  Where is he?  Stand up, Tom.  Where are you, Tom Fitton?  I donโ€™t know.  (Applause.)  Does โ€” he does โ€” thatโ€™s Judicial Watch.  They do a fantas- โ€” I donโ€™t know if everyone agrees, but I do.  (Applause.)  They do a fantastic job.

I wish he had more help.  I mean, honestly, I wish he had more help, but itโ€™s not easy beating a system thatโ€™s been in place for many, many years, right?  Many, many years itโ€™s been in place, and itโ€™s sad.  But 51 million votes โ€” itโ€™s being sent, and nobody knows whoโ€™s getting them.  And what happens if you send them to an all-Democrat area, but not to an all- Republican area?  How do you win an election?  This is, really, a very serious problem.  This is beyond me.  This is not to say โ€œmeโ€ or โ€” this is about all of us; this is about the country.  This is about the country.

It could happen the other way, too.  I mean, it could happen the other way, too.  I donโ€™t think it will happen the other way.  I donโ€™t think it will.

But I think this is a very disgraceful situation.  I really donโ€™t think that youโ€™re going to know anything on the evening โ€” anything meaningful or anything real on the evening of November 3rd.  I donโ€™t think youโ€™re going to know anything.  Youโ€™re not going to know what happened.  I donโ€™t think youโ€™ll know two weeks later.  I donโ€™t think youโ€™ll know four weeks later.  And I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going to happen.

You know, thereโ€™s a theory that if you donโ€™t have it by the end of the year, Crazy Nancy Pelosi would become President.  You know that, right?

AUDIENCE:  Booo โ€”

THE PRESIDENT:  No, no, think of that.  Think of that.  Thereโ€™s that mad theory, too.  You โ€” you have heard that theory.  No, I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s a theory or a fact, but I said, โ€œThatโ€™s not good.โ€  (Laughter.)  Thatโ€™s not good.  No, no, there is a theory that if you donโ€™t have it โ€” and thatโ€™s โ€” thatโ€™s part of their whole act; that if you donโ€™t have a choice, that the Speaker of the House becomes President.  And that, I think, goes into effect either on the 20th or the 1st.  And put that in the hopper.  Add that to everything else.  Itโ€™s a disgrace.

They know itโ€™s filthy, dirty.  Paterson, New Jersey; Virginia; New York.  Many, many cases all over the country just recent โ€” Iโ€™m talking about recently.  And itโ€™s not even the Post Office, although the mailmen become very popular people, I have to tell you that.  Thatโ€™s happened too.  Thatโ€™s happened too โ€” even mailmen.  But think about what theyโ€™re doing to our country when they do this.  We voted in World War One.  We voted in World War Two.  And now we canโ€™t vote anymore.

And, you know, thatโ€™s still a long time away.  The pandemic is โ€” if you look at Florida, if you look at Arizona, you look at California, those numbers are going down very rapidly.  Many, many states have very little problem.  You know, you look at a map now, itโ€™s โ€” itโ€™s largely, really, in good shape.  I mean, Iโ€™m going to talk about it in my speech on Thursday.  Weโ€™re โ€” weโ€™ve done a great job.  We have not been recognized for what weโ€™ve done.  Weโ€™ve done a great job.  (Applause.)

So in two and a half months from now, weโ€™ll be in, you know, good shape, and weโ€™re going to be in, really โ€” I think, potentially, really good shape.  And we โ€” we canโ€™t let this happen to our country.  Itโ€™s called universal mail-ins, okay?  Universal โ€” they like the word โ€œuniversalโ€ because it explains it.  I donโ€™t know why.  I personally donโ€™t like the name.  I just call it โ€œmail-in.โ€  But we want to distinguish it from absentee voting, which is okay, which has gone on for a long time.  And weโ€™re prepared for that, but weโ€™re not prepared for those 51 million ballots.

It will be a tremendous embarrassment to our country.  Itโ€™ll go on forever, and youโ€™ll never know who won.  So I say that for you, I say it for the cameras, because I assume that goes out.  But I will tell you that this is a very serious problem for a great democracy.  This is a very, very serious problem, and something has to be done about it.  And theyโ€™re being sent almost as we speak.

People are going to get ballots that had no intention of voting; that maybe shouldnโ€™t be voting; that maybe arenโ€™t โ€” and they say the computers will pick it up.  The computers are going to pick up nothing.  Theyโ€™re going to pick up nothing.  Youโ€™ll have double voting, where they send in a ballot and then theyโ€™ll go and vote.  Thatโ€™s going to be a big problem.  Theyโ€™ll send in their ballot, and theyโ€™ll vote too.  Theyโ€™ll send in the ballot, and then theyโ€™ll vote.

What are the chances that some states so efficiently run โ€“โ€Oh, gee, you canโ€™t vote.  We just got your ballot last night at seven oโ€™clock.โ€  I mean, think of how ridiculous it is, right?  Common sense.

I say this for the media: This will be the greatest catastrophe โ€” one of the greatest catastrophes in the history of our country.  Thatโ€™s how serious it is.  And they also think Iโ€™m trying to steal an election.  Just the opposite: I want the fair results of an election.  (Applause.)

So the damage that they inflict will not just last a year or an election cycle; it will echo for generations.  And we may never be able to escape, no matter how great our future leaders.  We may never, ever escape from the damage that will be inflicted if the radical left takes over the presidency.  We may never be able to โ€” remember the Supreme Court โ€” but we may never be able to do it; itโ€™ll be too late.  The country will go down so far that youโ€™ll never, ever โ€” I donโ€™t care who you are โ€” be able to bring it back.

Thereโ€™s now a major American political party that supports decriminalizing illegal border crossings, abolishing cash bail.  If you kill somebody, no bail.  They want to close all prisons, outlaw American energy, confiscate your guns, force taxpayers to finance late-term abortion.  They want to ban charter schools, abolish school choice, destroy our beautiful suburbs.

They want to destroy โ€” I have done more for suburbia.  When they talk about the โ€œsuburban woman,โ€ will she vote for Trump?  If she doesnโ€™t โ€” I mean, what is she doing?  They want to force low-income housing into suburbia.  And now the one that wants to do it is Cory Booker.  Cory Booker is a disaster.  You saw him running for President.  He eventually quit when he started getting below 1 percent.

How about all these people?  How about Kamala?  Kamala runs.  Sheโ€™s sort of one of the favorites.  And she goes from 15 to 13 to 12 to 9 to 7, 5, 4.  About 1, she got out.  She didnโ€™t even get to Iowa.  She never got there.  She didnโ€™t want to take a vote.  Thatโ€™s how bad she was.  Donโ€™t you want to pick a person thatโ€™s gone in the opposite direction?  (Applause.)  I mean, seriously.  Thatโ€™s like a free poll.

But thereโ€™s something that โ€” thatโ€™s not good going on there.  I donโ€™t think it was a good choice.  It was my number- one draft pick; I did say that.  They said, โ€œHow do you like the choice?โ€  I said, โ€œThat was my number-one draft pick.โ€  (Laughter.)  Thatโ€™s โ€” but I meant from my standpoint.  (Laughter.)  But think of it: She was one of the favorites, and she went down like a rock.  So itโ€™s one of those things.

I believe itโ€™s โ€” one of the worst things going on now is the abolition of police or even the partial abolition of police.  So we have to expose this dangerous left-wing movement.  We must defeat it.  And with an optimistic vision for Americaโ€™s future, we can be greater than ever before.  We will be greater than ever before.  With your help, thatโ€™s exactly what weโ€™re going to do.

Weโ€™ll, once again, build the greatest economy in history.  We had it.  We had to let it go to save millions of lives, and now weโ€™re building it again.  Weโ€™ll fully restore Americaโ€™s manufacturing independence, bring home our critical supply chains, and permanently end our reliance on China.

Weโ€™re going to lower drug prices.  (Applause.)  Weโ€™re going to lower drug prices at a level thatโ€™s never been lowered before.  You know, Iโ€™m the only President, in 51 years, that lowered โ€” last year, drug prices went down a little bit.  Not much, but a little bit.  But under Obama and Biden, they went up 52 percent.  Fifty-two percent.

Weโ€™ll create a healthcare system that protects vulnerable patients, lowers costs.  We have transparency.  Itโ€™s already done; itโ€™s approved.  It kicks into effect in January.  This is going to lower your hospital stays, your doctor bills, gives you more choice and controls.  And weโ€™re going to deliver the highest-quality care that our great American patients and people and seniors deserve.

Weโ€™ll provide school choice to every parent in America.  (Applause.)  Weโ€™ll appoint more conservative judges and justices.  (Applause.)  We will protect religious liberty, defend the lives of the unborn โ€” (applause) โ€” uphold free speech, and safeguard the Second Amendment and your right to keep and bear arms.  So important, right?  (Applause.)

Weโ€™ll restore patriotic education to our schools.  (Applause.)  I mean, what theyโ€™re teaching students today is incredible.  They come home; itโ€™s like a different world.  What is it โ€” 1619 now?  All of a sudden, they change.  Now theyโ€™re thinking about making another change because they donโ€™t like that.  I donโ€™t know.

So, I guess, 1492 โ€” Columbus discovered America.  (Applause)  Fourteen- โ€” you know, and thatโ€™s what we all โ€” 1492, Columbus discovered America, right?  Thatโ€™s what it was, right?  Now they want to sort of get that โ€” and poor Columbus.  Theyโ€™re ripping those โ€” (laughter) โ€” poor Christopher.

Except in one tough, Italian neighborhood in New York, they didnโ€™t get away with it.  (Applause.)  Did you see that?  Did you see it?  The anarchist said, โ€œLetโ€™s get the hell out of here.  This is dangerous.  This isโ€ฆโ€  The anarchists left.  No, that was one very tough, great area.  We love โ€” we love that area.  I know it very well.  They started surrounding it.  They were all set.  They had the ropes going, the whole deal.  And all of a sudden, they said, โ€œLetโ€™s get out of here.โ€  (Laughter.)  Great.  Christopher Columbus.  Can you believe it?  Christopher Columbus.

We will restore patriotic education to our schools and teach our children to love their country, honor our history, and respect our great American flag.  (Applause.)

So this is the vision we believe in.  And with your help, your talent โ€” and you have incredible talent in this room โ€” and your devotion, this is the bright future, not the dark future that you saw last night and for the last four days.  This is a bright future that we will deliver for all Americans.

I promise you this: As long as I am the President of the United States, I will fight with every ounce of energy and strength, and I have no doubt that our country will be greater than ever before.

Thank you all very much.  I appreciate it.  Itโ€™s a great honor.  Thank you.  (Applause.)  Thank you very much.
