At What Cost ‘Woke’?: The Marxist Takedown of America’s Military

Webinar to Address Whether Gen. CQ Brown Will Fix or Compound this Disaster

In recent days, the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate have, to varying degrees, addressed the “fundamental transformation” of America’s military at the hands of civilian and uniformed leaders promoting what has become known as the “woke” agenda, but really amounts to a Marxist cultural revolution. The adverse impact of this subversive project on readiness and deterrence animated action in both chambers on the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act and, to a much more limited degree, questions posed during the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the nomination of one such leader – Air Force Chief of Staff General Charles “C.Q.” Brown – to become the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In the name of “diversity, equity and inclusion,” what can properly be described as the three Obama-Biden administrations have promoted officers and programs that favor racial quotas, critical race theory indoctrination, and various accommodations to transgender individuals and other social engineering. The effect on the military’s traditional priorities of merit – especially performance in combat, unit cohesion, morale and combat readiness has been devastating. That is especially evident when measured in terms of: a) the growing difficulty in retaining experienced and skilled warriors; and b) the recruitment of personnel who hold promise of meeting those standards in the future, as well.

Of particular concern is the prospect that these problems, and their increasingly adverse effect on our armed forces, will be exacerbated if the Senate confirms as the nation’s top military officer a general like CQ Brown. His record, in particular as Air Force Chief of Staff, indicates that he is committed to the critical race doctrine that whites are unalterably racist oppressors of blacks and other minorities and must be limited to some arbitrary quotas among the officer corps. He takes pride in embracing: “diversity” hires and promotions; making servicewomen “comfortable” with bunking and showering with intact males who profess to identify as females; and “woke” indoctrination at the Air Force Academy and elsewhere, including Defense Department schools for military dependents.

This Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC) webinar took place on July 21, 2023 and examined the implications of this cultural Marxist assault on the U.S. military, in particular at a moment when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) seems ever-more-intent on complementing its long-running, pre-kinetic “unrestricted warfare” with a shooting war. The panel of brilliant thought-leaders who happen to be black, have done so in an objective way, free of racist sentiments.
