I am not Jewish, but one thing I do know, as a Christian: The Jewish people are Godโs special, chosen ones.
Being anti-Semitic is another way of being anti-American. Chanting โDeath to Jewsโ is simply inhumane. Such threats and taunts violate the right of the Jew to his Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness.
Being American means loving oneโs fellow man. It means treating people the same, regardless of race, creed, or color. We respect others, they respect us in turn. Maybe weโve heard this so many times that it doesnโt mean a thing anymore.
America welcomes those of other nations and faiths; we have always stood as a beacon of hope to the rest of the world. We want others to experience the freedoms we enjoy, including of religion, because our ancestors knew what it was like to be persecuted for worshipping God in their own way.
As a nation founded on Christian beliefs and principles, throughout the decades it has been the privilege and honor, as well as responsibility, of the United States to protect the Jewish nation. We have always felt a sort of kinship with them, as both Christians and Jews worship the same God and share the same values.
Now the Jewish people are fighting so they will not be annihilated. They bravely and honorably press on in defense of their Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. They have every right to defend such things because these things are God-given.
Those here in America who support Hamas and engage in anti-Israel protestsโclogging the streets and poisoning the air with their chants of โFrom the river to the seaโโare making the statement that they do not believe in our countryโs principles. They are not worthy of the name of American, for they betray the meaning of that title.
We need to be clear on one thing: Though they are fighting their own war, Israel needs our support. The Jewish people need to experience a feeling of that support and security here in our nation as well.
