Media personality Tucker Carlson is gearing up for his trip to Canada by sending a warning to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The former Fox News host took to Instagram to post a teaser for his upcoming Jan. 24 event in Calgary, which will include a conversation with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, followed by an evening talk at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

“It’s Tucker Carlson calling from the United States, and I’d be grateful if you’d pass a message on to the prime minister, Justin Trudeau,” he said in a recent Instagram video during which he called the media line for the Office of the Prime Minister. “We are coming to liberate Canada. We are coming to liberate Canada, and we’ll be there soon. Merci.”

The video has been shared across social media platform X, including by author and psychologist Jordan Peterson, a proponent of the right to free speech.

“See you there,” Dr. Peterson said in his Jan. 23 post, which tagged Mr. Carlson, Ms. Smith, and Conrad Black, a well-known Canadian conservative commentator who will attend the Edmonton event.

Dr. Peterson has been in the news in recent weeks for losing his appeal of a court ruling enforcing social media training prescribed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario after it received complaints about a number of his social media posts. He is known for his outspoken, conservative views and his criticism of some Liberal politicians, including Mr. Trudeau.

Carlson in Calgary and Edmonton

Mr. Carlson will visit Calgary on Jan. 24 for a live speech followed by an interview. He will also speak with Ms. Smith during the lunchtime event.

Originally, Mr. Carlson was slated only for the Calgary event, but the 4,000-person waiting list convinced organizers to include an additional speaking engagement in Edmonton. While Ms. Smith will not be a part of the Edmonton event, Mr. Black and fellow Canadian conservative commentator Rex Murphy will join him. Mr. Peterson later tweeted that he’ll be there also.

A press release from organizers calls the event an “evening of conversation on global affairs and discussion on the most interesting and current topics of the day.”
