Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum is a Mexican politician, scientist, and academic who was elected as the 66th president of Mexico October 1, 2024. She is the first woman to hold the office.
President Sheinbaum walks a tricky tightrope between the desires of the world for law and order and the cartels desire for profits. There are 8 powerful well known Latin-American cartels President Trump designated โforeign terrorist organizationsโ last week the U.S. could be pursuing militarily soon.
- Sinaloa Cartel (Cartel de Sinaloa) โ Mexico
- Jalisco New Generation Cartel (Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion) โ Mexico
- Gulf Cartel (Cartel del Golfo) โ Mexico
- Northeast Cartel (Cartel del Noreste) โ Mexico
- La Nueva Familia Michoacana Cartel (Cartel La Nueva Familia Michoacana) โ Mexico
- United Cartels (Carteles Unidos) โ Mexico
- Tren de Aragua Cartel (Cartel Tren de Aragua – TdA) โ Venezuela
- Mara Salvatrucha Cartel (Cartel Mara Salvatrucha) โ (aka MS-13) El Salvador
In 2022 it was revealed that President Trump was planning on launching military operations into Mexico if he had secured a second term in the 2020 General Election.

President Trump is well within his right to declare war on the Mexican cartels without declaring war on Mexico itself. The crimes these cartels are perpetrating within the United States could very well be consideredโacts of warโ and the cartels are arming themselves with military grade weapons. Trump has made it known that the collaboration between gangs of China and Mexico must be stopped in their production and trafficking of fentanyl into the United States.
But that has not stopped the socialist Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum from making counter threats to President Trump and his mission. Last week Sheinbaum said if Trump designated any Mexican cartels โterrorist organizationsโ she would consider expanding Mexicoโs ongoing lawsuit against Smith and Wesson and other gun manufacturers.
“If they declare these criminal groups as terrorists, then we’ll have to expand our U.S. lawsuit,” President Sheinbaum said at a press conference last week. Sheinbaum threatened a new charge of “complicity” could be filed against U.S. gun makers as “74% of the weapons” used by Mexican criminal groups come from north of the border.
Mexico began a lawsuit in 2021 suing Smith & Wesson and other U.S. gun companies for aiding and abetting in the illegal trafficking of guns to Mexican drug cartels. The case is to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
But walking her tightrope between President Trump and the Mexican cartels, President Sheinbaum also has publicly stated that the recent presence of U.S. military spy planes near Mexicoโs borders is not cause for alarm. โIt is part of the dialogue, the coordination; we are not alarmed. They are flying over their own territory, and what we are asking for is coordination and collaboration.โ
The U.S. military has increased its surveillance of Mexican drug cartels this month carrying out at least 18 missions. Sophisticated spy planes, drones, and satellites over the southwestern United States in international airspace are rumored to be tracking cartel movements within Mexico. These surveillance missions seem to align with President Trumpโs plan to utilize the military to eradicate the cartels as a national security threat. Experts feel President Trump will give President Sheinbaum the opportunity to respond to U.S. intelligence gathered using her own Mexican military to target cartel criminal activities. Should that fail and it appear the cartels were โtipped offโ, Trump may take unilateral action himself.
The criminal acts President Trump wants to eradicate in the U.S. the cartels are responsible for include:
- Drugs
- Human Trafficking
- Child Trafficking
- Guns
- Illegal Immigration
- Gang Warfare
- Money Laundering
- Fencing of Stolen Goods
- Prostitution
- Official Document Forgery
It is estimated that the revenue generated from all of these crimes together produces $500 billion in revenue annually.
The 1970 Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO Act, is often used to prosecute such criminal organizations involving groups of people working in unison as a team.
It is estimated that nearly half a million Americans died of drug overdoses during the Joe Biden presidency. During the Biden Administration many experts of the medical and law enforcement communities deemed fentanyl use and resultant overdoes as โan epidemicโ. Fentanyl is said to be 100 times stronger than morphine.

CONCLUSION:
When you put the pieces of this very simple but yet complex puzzle together, I fully expect President Trump will launch a military raid into Mexico to exterminate the cartels just as he did, or is doing, to the terrorist organizations ISIS and HAMAS. He rightfully considers them no different and they are not.
He understands the tricky position all Mexican elected officials are in, whether they are innocent politicians trying to serve their constituents or guilty ones taking kickback money directly from the cartels.
