Recent Sun Activity Could Trigger Major Earthquakes

5Mind. The Meme Platform

A number of scientists around the world are sharing concerns about an imminent global seismic event. Their concerns have come about because of four basic observations:

  • It has been an usually long time since we have experienced a magnitude 7 or 8 earthquake in the western hemisphere.
  • The earth’s magnetic poles are shifting more rapidly.
  • There has been recent unusual activity on the sun of coronal holes with strong plasma flares sent to earth known as X flares.
  • Lots of activity around the globe in the numbers of small earthquakes and volcanoes.

When the earth has a major earthquake, it relieves the stress or pressure of the shifting faults of the earth which allows us to live safely for a while longer. We have not had a major earthquake in the western hemisphere since the Haiti earthquake of January 12, 2010 which was a magnitude 7.0 that took 160,000 lives. This means those of us in the west are long overdue for “a big one”.

In the eastern hemisphere they have had a major earthquake more recently. Back in 2023 Turkey and Syria had a 7.8 magnitude deadly earthquake. That earthquake caused 53,537 in Turkey and 8,476 deaths in Syria.

“Global POLE SHIFTING May Have Caused Spain BLACKOUT, Solar STORMS Are COMING” – Tim Pool

Our sun has been seeing more activity than usual. Solar flares are categorized based on their strength into A, B, C, M, and X classes, with X being the largest. Our earth has been getting hit with X flares recently. Those flares are then ranked with a number. The highest the earth has ever seen was an X45 back in 2003. These rated flares are like eruptions on the sun. They can cause minor problems with electronics on earth to major problems like earthquakes.

Our scientists and engineers have been doing admirable jobs at both predicting when these earthquake and volcano events are about to occur as well as keeping us safer during these events. Along with predicting future events, scientists are also getting better at predicting when a volcano is about to erupt which is somewhat related to earthquake activity.

On top of all of this exciting and unusual news, the earth’s magnetic fields (poles) are shifting and it has been discussed for some time but recent activity has had it more prevalent in the news of the science community than our mainstream news.

Some scientists have a concern this polar shift could activate the New Madrid Fault 165 miles south of St. Louis as many believe it is long overdue for significant activity.

Because of recent unusual activity on the sun, many scientists are now expressing concerns about what could come in the immediate future yet this year. In the old days past we used to refer to this activity as “solar storms” but now scientists use more specific terms and they can actually observe this activity optically on the sun. Coronal holes are observed as darker areas on the surface of the sun while plasma flares are seen as aerial explosions upward from the surface of the sun.

Volcanic activity is now at a record level around the globe. Volcanic activity is another way the earth’s surface relieves itself from internal stresses and forces. Sometimes a volcano erupting can actually trigger earthquakes.

CONCLUSION:

We just had a 3.3 magnitude earthquake here in Illinois shortly before midnight Monday. Its epicenter (origin) was roughly 75 miles southeast of Springfield 6 miles below the earth’s surface. Some 100 people in that part of rural Illinois reported feeling the tremor.

I felt my first earthquake back on February 10, 2010 around 4:00 in the morning. It was a magnitude 3.8 earthquake with an epicenter near Virgil, Illinois, 3 miles underground. To be honest, the experience scared the hell out of me.

In college I took science coursework in geology and geography and found these sciences absolutely fascinating. I knew enough about earthquakes that a “little tremor” should have not scared me so bad. There was a reason this “tremor” felt like something more even though it was 50 miles from where I live. I think our Illinois earthquake happening so soon (a month) after the Haiti earthquake rattled my nerves as well.

I had just gotten back in bed after going to the bathroom when the initial P-wave (primary wave) made the whole house jump including me in my bed. Shortly thereafter the S-wave (secondary wave) made the house wobble slightly east to west (the sliding closet doors wobbled in their tracks). And for those curious, the sound was like being in a vehicle when you go too fast over an uneven railroad track. It kind of felt the same, too.

It took me years to determine what had happened that scared me so. I figured it out when a foundation hole was being cut for a neighboring home. After the contractors got down 3 feet into the ground they hit a bed of solid Illinois limestone. It turns out our entire subdivision would have been better suited as a gravel quarry. Houses fair better on spongey ground with give than solid rock with no give. The solid bed of rock my home sits on magnified the impact of the 3.8 earthquake. I immediately added “earthquake insurance” to my homeowner’s policy.

Now would be a good time to study up on earthquake safety procedures (DROP/COVER/HOLD ON) as well as how preppers prepare for disasters and impending doom.

Better to be safe, than sorry!
