ByteDance, a Chinese company with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, was nearing its June 19 deadline to sell TikTok.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order to extend the deadline for the sale of TikTok for another 90 days.

ByteDance, a Chinese company with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), was nearing a June 19 deadline to sell TikTokโ€™s U.S. operations and assets under a national security law that was upheld by the Supreme Court earlier this year.

Since taking office in January, Trump had already twice granted a reprieve from enforcement of a congressionally mandated ban on TikTok, which was supposed to go into effect in January.

โ€œPresident Trump will sign an additional executive order this week to keep TikTok up and running,โ€ White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday.

This is a breaking news story. More details will follow.
