As we begin day 13 without a Federal Budget due to an impasse between Senate Democrats and Republicans most people agree a Federal budget does not appear likely. Talk is going around about the “Democrats Dirty CR” and the “Republicans Clean CR”.
CR stands for “Continuing Resolution” of the Federal Budget. Many experts agree that this shutdown feels different than shutdowns of the past and claim that if this shutdown goes over 30 days, real pain will be felt by many Americans as Federal funding to the states will be impacted.
Republicans point out that Democrats of the Senate led by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) want to add $1.5 trillion to the national debt by giving illegal aliens Medicaid healthcare, reembrace radical climate change activities, and woke policies ahead of American citizens needs and desires. Hence, this impasse is being termed “The Schumer Shutdown”.
“Kennedy: Sen. Schumer’s as nervous as a pregnant nun about his party’s left flank” – Fox News
Democrats claim they didn’t shut down the government to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants. Page 57 of their Dirty CR says otherwise.
The Senate Democrats 68 page “Dirty CR Bill” is found here.
By contrast the Republican “Clean CR Bill” is only 26 pages and essentially calls for the budget to remain as it has been since July 4th for another 7 weeks.
Senator John Kennedy called out the Democrats more specifically two weeks ago.
“Kennedy: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is calling the shots in the Democratic Party” – Senator John Kennedy
The Democrats are famous for saying the Republicans want to cut American’s healthcare but that is a half-truth as Senator Kennedy illustrates here.
“For example, we found out that there are, no kidding, I’m not just making this up. We found out that there are 2.8 million people on Medicaid who are double dipping in America. They’re either signing up for Medicaid in Louisiana and Mississippi, double dipping, or they’re signing up for Medicaid uh in Louisiana and they’re signing up for the Obamacare subsidies. That’s called cheating. Our bill would put an end to that and it would save about 140 billion on 10 years. The socialist wing of the Democratic party and a congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez want us to reverse that.
The second thing we did in our healthcare reforms in the one big be beautiful bill is to say you’ve got to you if you’ve got to stop lying when you apply for Medicaid under President Obama. We had virtually no eligibility checks (and balances). People could walk in and the the Medicaid folks would say, “How much do you make a year?” And they could say, ” $30,000 a year.” And they say, “Okay, you qualify.” Now, I, you know, I trust people. I’ve said it before on this floor. I play cards with my friends all the time. They’re friends. I cut the cards. Anyway, we have found, for example, just in uh just in Louisiana, we did a statistical sample of the people on Medicaid in Louisiana. Our auditors found 1,600 people on Medicaid making $100,000 a year or more. That’s cheating. So, our bill put an end to that.
Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and the socialist wing of the Democratic Party want us to put it back. They want to let us let people cheat.
What else are the socialists asking for in this $1.5 trillion? Well, they’re saying we don’t want people who can work to work. We put a provision in in our bill that the congresswoman and the socialist wing of her party want us to take out that says, look, if you’re between the ages of 19 and 64 and you’re able-bodied, we’re not talking about a mother with a sick child in her arms, you’re able-bodied, you’re perfectly healthy, um, and you don’t have any dependent kids at home, then if you qualify based on income, we’ll give you Medicaid. But you have to work. You have to work 20 hours a week or go to school 20 hours a week or do community service 20 hours a week because the free enterprise system jobs have done more to lift people out of poverty than all the social programs put together. That’s what’s called our work requirement. What’s wrong with that?”
CONCLUSION:
The American public must put pressure on their Democrat Senators to pass the Republican’s House Clean Resolution Budget Bill, a clean, nonpartisan, short-term measure to keep the government open while appropriators finish their work. This bill offers Security funding for Members of Congress and federal officials and it does not “gut” or make any change to current health care policy.
The Democrats’ Radical $1.5 trillion in partisan demands for a four-week extension (The Democrats’ Dirty CR) of the Senate include:
- Restores nearly $200 billion in taxpayer-funded free health care for illegal aliens.
- Keeps able-bodied non-working adults on taxpayer-funded Medicaid and Obamacare health programs.
- Permanently extends Biden’s COVID pandemic-era Obamacare subsidies.
- Repeals $50 billion in rural health care funding, hurting hospitals and clinics in vulnerable communities.
- Restores $500 million to left-leaning media outlets such as NPR.
The Democrats are losing this battle with the Republicans which will cost them more votes in the 2026 Midterm Elections. Democrats definitely want all Americans to pay for illegal and undocumented immigrants benefits. That $1.5 trillion is about $4,000 for every American to pay in either inflation or taxes. Some say Schumer will not get serious about passing a new CR Bill of any kind until after the “No Kings” protest scheduled for this coming Saturday of the 18th. Some 2,000 protests are planned around the country.
Americans have had it with the socialist Democrats radical WOKE insane programs. We do not want to fund transgender reassignment surgeries for children, electric buses in Rwanda and dance classes for male prostitutes in Haiti!
“Democrats Seek Funding for Male Prostitute Cooking Classes, African Pride Parade, Nepali Transgenders, and More” – Joe Miller
At a time when our national debt is $37 trillion with our Gross National Product (GNP) no longer able to keep up with the interest on this debt alone, it is time for the Democrats to stop adding to this debt with ridiculous programs of socialism!
