Karoline Leavitt said she’s expecting a girl in May and expressed her gratitude for the White House’s ‘pro-family environment’ under Trump.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed Friday that she is expecting her second child, a girl, due in May.

The 28-year-old press secretary to President Donald Trump made the news public in an Instagram post, posing with her baby bump beside a Christmas tree. Leavitt, who is the youngest person ever to serve as White House press secretary, expressed excitement.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” she wrote in the Instagram post. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”

She also expressed her gratitude for the White House’s pro-family policies under Trump.

“I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House,” she said. “2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”

Leavitt regularly holds briefings on topics ranging from trade talks to geopolitical conflict. She has described the White House working environment as a supportive workplace for families, aligning with the administration’s actions to bolster programs aiding mothers and children.

In October, during the federal government shutdown, Leavitt described how the White House would deploy tariff revenues in order to maintain the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC. The program serves millions of low-income pregnant and postpartum women, as well as young children, with essential nutritional support.

“President Trump and the White House have identified a creative solution to transfer resources from Section 232 tariff revenue to this critical program,” Leavitt said at the time.

At 25, Leavitt emerged victorious in the Republican primary for a U.S. House seat in New Hampshire in 2022, aligned with Trump and Rep. Elise Stefanik, a New York Republican for whom Leavitt served as a communications aide. Though she did not win the general election, Trump tapped her for the role of White House press secretary after his 2024 presidential election win.

Trump announced her appointment as press secretary in November 2024, when she was 27.
