The court order seals photos, reports, and other information from the public as detectives continue to investigate the case.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has blocked the release of autopsy reports from the investigation into the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, the medical examiner’s office said in a statement on Monday.

The judge placed a security hold on the murder cases, barring the office from releasing any further information.

“The Department understands the public’s interest in these cases and remains committed to transparency when possible,” the medical examiner’s office stated. “Information will be made available once the court order is lifted.”

The block prevents the public release of information, photos, and reports connected to the death investigation. The two cases are no longer available on the medical examiner’s website.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is continuing to investigate the couple’s early morning murder on Dec. 14 at their Brentwood, California, residence.

The bodies of Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found at around 3:30 p.m. at the home in the 200 block on Chadbourne Avenue. The medical examiner classified the couple’s deaths as homicides.

Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was charged with first-degree murder of his parents with special circumstances on Dec. 16. Authorities said a knife was used in the attack.

The medical examiner released its initial findings on Dec. 17, listing “multiple sharp force injuries” as the cause of death for the director and his photographer wife, aligning with police reports of stab wounds.

According to the LAPD, the autopsy reports were sealed for investigative reasons.

“The order was sought only to ensure detectives from the robbery-homicide division learned of the important information surrounding their deaths before the media and the public,” LAPD Public Information officer Tony Im told The Epoch Times. “The order was not sought to undermine transparency.”
