Illegal Immigrant Weaponizes Vehicle Against ICE Officers in Texas: DHS

The incident happened on Jan. 13 when federal officers were conducting a targeted vehicle stop to arrest Robyn Argote Brooks, a Cuban.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Robyn Argote Brooks, an illegal immigrant from Cuba, who weaponized his vehicle against law enforcement officials, according to a Jan. 15 statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The incident happened in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 13, when federal officers were conducting a targeted vehicle stop to arrest Brooks. Brooks attempted to evade arrest by reversing his vehicle at “full speed, almost running over an ICE officer,” said the statement.

The officer escaped, and Brooks slammed into an ICE vehicle. He then accelerated forward and crashed into a second ICE vehicle, causing injuries to an officer sitting inside. ICE officers were finally able to arrest Brooks.

“One of our officers was injured in this vehicle attack and we are praying for him, his health, and his family. As sanctuary politicians have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest, they have created an environment that incites violence against our law enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin.

“Our ICE officers are facing a 3,200 percent increase in vehicle attacks against them and a more than 1,300 percent increase in assaults against them,” she continued. “Secretary Noem has been clear: Anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

According to DHS, Brooks entered the country under the CBP One app program in 2024.

CBP One was an app used by migrants to schedule appointments and cross the border into the United States via designated ports of entry.

The app was deactivated immediately following the Jan. 20 inauguration of President Donald Trump.

In March 2025, the current administration launched the CBP Home app. Unlike the earlier version, CBP Home is used by illegal immigrants to submit information regarding their self deportation from the country.

“The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said on March 10, 2025, during the app’s launch.

The CBP One app was used by “more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States” during the prior administration, Noem said.
