Four Republicans joined Democrats to stop the Save America Act from passing in the Senate on June 4, on a vote of 48-50.
Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) joined all Democrats in voting “nay” to the amendment.
The SAVE America Act would have required a photo ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
