Google defines an existential threat as the following:
“An existential threat is a situation or factor that poses a high risk to the survival or existence of something, whether it be an individual, a group, a species, or even an entire civilization. It implies a fundamental danger that could lead to the complete destruction or irreversible harm of the entity in question.”
Yesterday I wrote about Artificial Intelligence for the first time here:
“Artificial Intelligence Equals Awful Iniquities” – The Thinking Conservative
We now see evidence that artificial intelligence is an existential threat to our future. It is coming to take American jobs!
Last week a news article began to tell the story of the problem here:
“Microsoft planning ‘major’ Xbox layoffs next week” – The Verge
In that story it was reported that Microsoft now has about 3% of their programming done by AI which would allow them to downsize their company by 6,000 employees in May. More layoffs are assured to occur in the near future as Microsoft (like so many other major companies) is just starting to feel their way in the potentials of AI.
A heartbroken gentleman laid off from Microsoft is seen in the opening of this news video at the top of this article.
The video below about Google layoffs shows multiple young people who have been recently laid off dealing with their new unforeseen reality. Many of these appear to be Generation Z hires born between 1997 and 2012 in the age range from 13 to 28 in 2025.
“Google Firing 20,000 Workers as Tech Hiring STOPS” – Market Gains
They say every cloud has a silver lining. One silver lining may be the message of celebrity vocational personality Mike Rowe as he is shown here discussing good paying trade professions lacking workers in their labor markets:
“My Hot Take On Trump Diverting $3 Billion From Harvard To Trade Schools | Hot Takes” – Mike Rowe
CONCLUSION:
Not much needs to be said about this very obvious problem but two posted comments in the video of Market Gains pretty much sum up the problem. One is an original comment and the other is a reply. Both are intended as sarcastic comedy with a bit of truthful irony.

“If AI Takes All The Jobs, This Is What Society Looks Like” – Moon
The video above introduces us to a new form of governance, “technocracy”.
Wikipedia defines this relatively new term as:
“Technocracy is a form of government in which decision-makers appoint knowledge experts in specific domains to provide them with advice and guidance in various areas of their policy-making responsibilities.”
During the second term of President Donald Trump, the real threat of destabilizing American he may have to address is artificial intelligence rather than the socialist Democrats.
“’We’ve Lost Control!’ — Ex-Google Boss Issues TERRIFYING AI Prediction for 2026” – Tesla Edge
I have two concerns about what we are seeing in the innovation of AI just this month of June 2025:
1. If you allow AI to operate with complete autonomy. without any human overseers, you are being exceptionally foolish. Murphy’s Law will come into play in this scenario sooner or later, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
2. What a man does for a living often becomes a large part of their identity. If you take away their employment, in large part you are destroying their sense of self. “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” – Dalai Lama
