Biden Impeachment Probe Unlikely to End in Removal From Office: GOP Lawmaker

A Republican lawmaker has cast doubt on whether the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden will lead to his removal from office.

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mt.) said Tuesday that he’s convinced the evidence in President Joe Biden’s impeachment inquiry is enough for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take actionโ€”but that he’s not so sure an impeachment trial in the Senate will actually succeed in removing him from office.

Mr. Rosendale made the remarks in an interview on Fox News, in which he was asked about the status of the impeachment proceedings against President Biden.

โ€œI do not believe that youโ€™re probably going to be able to get an impeachment or removal of President Biden,” Mr. Rosendale said.

“But I do think that if our Department of Justice acted in a legitimate manner, that thereโ€™s enough facts that are already laid out there on the table … that we can see that the Biden crime family has major problems, and I think the Department of Justice should be picking up a lot of this and starting to make charges and prosecutions,โ€ he added.

The DOJ did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Rep. Rosendale’s remarks.

The White House has dismissed the GOP-led impeachment probe into President Biden as a political stunt.

Biden Impeachment

The impeachment inquiry against President Biden focuses on his time as vice president and involves allegations that he lied about his involvement in his family’s business dealings.

House Republicans have alleged that President Biden benefited from the foreign business dealings of his family members, in particular those of his son, Hunter Biden, who had a lucrative position at Ukrainian energy giant Burisma while then-Vice President Biden was responsible for U.S. foreign policy regarding Ukraine.

Members of the Biden family, their associates, and their companies raked in more than $24 million from various sources, including business operators and companies in China, Russia, and Kazakhstan, according to records obtained by the GOP-led House Oversight Committee.

President Biden and White House spokesman Ian Sams have strenuously denied any wrongdoing on the president’s partโ€”or any involvement in or knowledge of his family’s business dealings.
