Fear is a terrific motivator. It makes us run faster, jump higher, and scream several octaves above normal. Irrational panic is fear without cause.
Nowhere is delusional fright more evident than among the Democrats in the House and Senate. They’ve changed these institutions into horror chambers. A place where crypt keepers like Chuck Schumer D-NY and Nancy Pelosi D-CA prowl the corridors in search of wrinkle cream and diapers.
During Halloween, the frightened and squeamish are playthings for the tricksters among the treaters. Whether it be the worry induced by the macabre or a vivid imagination, the spookiness of October is simply too much for some.
The Democrat’s shutdown has become a death trap for them in which there may be no escape.
The delusional see a tractor and it somehow transforms into a dragon, or a garden hose becomes a malevolent serpent. The Left sees a ballroom, and it becomes a demon of destruction aimed at our very democracy. Trump secures temporary funding to pay service members and Democrats see a “pay for play” scheme aimed at buying influence.
When one is suffering from scare-induced derangement, the ordinary and mundane become nightmarish and obscene.
The paranoid lock themselves in their room afraid that someone, or something, is out to get them. As is often said, “just because your paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.” While the paranoid aren’t in any danger, the same can’t be said of Democrats, there is someone out to “get them”.
For the Progressive Left there is only one boogeyman, and he casts them into stammering idiots engaged in incessant ramblings of unintelligible gibberish.
In the grip of a four-year perpetual fright, they are catatonic. Their paralysis of thought isn’t caused by the Werewolf or Frankenstein, but a flesh and blood man from whom they can find no refuge.
So complete is Trump’s hold on their fragile psyche they can’t see daylight or reason. Since November of 2024, they’ve been in a permanent fetal position screaming in a darkness of their own making about demons and the end of democracy at the orange hands of Trump.
Donald Trump is, to the Left, what sunlight is to a vampire. The sound of his voice reveals terrors second only to seeing his imaginatively coiffed visage.
This is why everything he does, for them, is an “existential threat”. Why every Trump action is cause for blathering hysterics. Every act, whether it be an Executive Order, a tweet, or his answer to a reporter’s inquiry is cause for wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Like Medusa exposed to a mirror, they are frozen in abject horror by anything he says or does.
Wandering in the political wilderness, cast there by Trump, it is a hellscape where they are reduced to the party of insignificance. For Democrats, it is the worst kind of nightmare, one in which they speak, and no one listens.
A party designed, not destined; to accumulate power, they are cast off to a nightmarish Sleepy Hollow version of D.C. They tremble in fear as Trump’s sword-wielding Headless Horseman searches for another program to lop off government’s bloated cadaver.
The government shutdown in which we are currently progressing is case and point. Democrats, led by the wizened and unwise, Chuck Schumer D-NY, chose to close government to claw back funding for a variety of programs axed by the Republican’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’. Using a shutdown to legislate is like using a flame thrower to light a candle, it provides light momentarily but destroys everything in its path.
Like zombies, they moan and groan about imaginary cuts to “Medicare” and insurance premium increases caused by their very own expiring “Obamacare” subsidies.
They crowd around microphones before the Press hungering for the nourishment of sycophantic acceptance. Their minions in the media keep these ghouls at arm’s length. Some in the legacy press don’t want their brains to be eaten. If these cavorting corpses base their survival on the cranial contents among Democrats and the press, they’ll starve.
To survive, they take the only sustenance they can find, Trump-hating segments on media outlets whose audiences are dying faster than a werewolf struck by a silver bullet.
On these outdated outlets, they fulfill their primary craving, attention. Much like Renfield in Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ each bite of rotten flesh as provided by corrupt media further distorts their ideas and inflames their minds.
If the shutdown weren’t proof of their ghoulish desires, then Trump’s new ballroom and the ghastly responses it evokes is. The addition of the ornate ballroom is a torch waved in the face of this flat-headed, bolt-necked, conglomeration of necrotic tissues sewn into one mindless and ineffectual monster-party.
They initiate, prolong, and encourage the shutdown because it affords them, they think, political relevance.
Their position is not unlike Freddy Krueger’s whose powers existed only during a dream state. Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) was sleepwalking when she said, “Shutdowns are terrible. Of course there will be families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously, but it is one of the few leverage times we have.”
Clark and her party don’t offer any high-minded policy ideas, no legislative solutions or even compassion. Instead, the people’s suffering is a time of “leverage”. They vote against paying Federal workers during the shutdown but then propose maintaining entitlement program funding. Don’t remunerate those working without pay but keep paying those who do not work.
Republicans have now offered fourteen clean resolutions to open government, and Democrats have acted as though each one were a splash of holy water that burned them on contact.
Like the Wicked Witch of the West’s army of flying monkeys, the Democrats scatter to the airwaves hooting and hollering in hateful and vitriolic soundbites about the “tearing down of democracy.” This is the rhetorical equivalent of flinging their poo on all those below.
Halloween will be here soon, let’s hope our nation’s horror chambers can transform back into the deliberative legislative bodies they should be once the witching hour is past. If not, we’re in for even scarier times ahead.
