Coldplay Concert Offers Us Garden of Eden Moment

5Mind. The Meme Platform

It seems a significant portion of society wants to live apart from God, the Bible, and organized religion. Indeed, some people refuse to believe there is a God in Heaven. That becomes pretty ironic when His proofs are all around us if we just open our eyes.

Take for example the reaction of an apparent couple in love at a recent Coldplay concert after they were caught on a jumbotron kiss cam. The couple was seen standing as the man was hugging the woman from behind at a concert in Boston. Both lovers were seen standing. His hands and arms were over her chest with hers over his.

The moment initially showed the couple in euphoric love but that quickly changed to an expression of shock and horror as they spotted themselves on the jumbotron screen. Both of them immediately separated as they tried to dodge the camera thereafter. The woman turned her back to the camera and the man slunk down into his seat behind other concert goers.

Why?

It turns out the couple was not married, at least to each other.  The Coldplay kiss cam moment allegedly showed the head of the New York firm named Astronomer, CEO Andy Byron, holding his HR chief Kristin Cabot. Each of them are/were married to other people with children as two separate families at one time. Cabot is said to be divorced with one child. She divorced her husband Kenneth Thornby in 2022. Megan Kerrigan is the current wife of Byron and they have two children together.

Chris Martin is an English singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and philanthropist. He’s known as the lead singer and co-founder of the British rock band Coldplay. As the lead of the band he took to the microphone during a break to narrate some kiss cam shots on the jumbotron screen.

When Martin got to Byron and Cabot on screen, he first thought the camera had caught a romantic couple. “Look at these two,” he said in a now viral video on the internet. Martin then acted confused as to why they had so abruptly hid from the camera.

Martin then seemingly had the lightbulb go on over his head as he said to the crowd from the stage, “Oh what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

There are now rumors circulating that their exposure at the concert was no accident. A rumor is circulating Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan, was tipped off to the affair and concert attendance and revealed their spot in the concert to the kiss cam crew. Another rumor is somebody from within the company with an ax to grind with Byron, Cabot, or both, exposed them to the kiss cam cameraman. Some are suspicious of the lady smiling and laughing to the left of Cabot in the video. Some say she is Alyssa Stoddard who was recently promoted to “VP of People” (HR) by Cabot. Some say she may have set them up while others say she is in charge of public relations and was exhibiting nervous laughter like, “How am I going to recover the company from this one?!”

A press report late yesterday said the incident is now being investigated by the company.

CONCLUSION:

For those who have been innocent victims blindsided by adultery (playing by the rules), this viral video was not all that funny. It opens an old wound. Some internet podcasters have taken to this story laughing while bashing Byron, the male, rather than Cabot, the female in this alleged affair. Some say adultery should be illegal and both should be thrown in prison.

The fact of the matter is adultery is still illegal in 10 states. It was illegal in 15 states just 30 years ago. There was a time when adultery was a crime in all 50 states!

For me as the resident old guy observing these shenanigans, I came away with 5 thoughts:

1. Their faces in the video were so red and so different from their online portraits I was immediately thinking, “What? Were they out on a boat all day in the Boston harbor and got all sunburned?”

2. Maybe, if Byron and Cabot had just acted like a normal couple (continued to hold each other and wave) rather than act so guilty, maybe then this situation might not have blown up on them so bad.

3. Our youth use an expression these days, “F*ck around and find out” (FAFO). These two have now moved from the FA stage and will progress to the FO stage, the one where boards and lawyers get involved.

4. If the two had not been engaged in a public display of affection (PDA) the cameraman might not have used them in the first place.

But mostly I thought long and hard on this last one:

5. This incident reminded me of mankind’s original sin. That time when Adam and Eve got caught in the Garden of Eden eating an apple from the tree of God they were ordered not to eat from. They ran away and hid in guilt, shame, and fear and then God was like, “Adam, Eve, where are you?” (LOL – The joke there is God is God. He probably felt them doing wrong as they were doing it and He has like x-ray vision to boot!)

Of course most people know the other story from the 1956 movie “The Ten Commandments” when God came back to give Moses (Charlton Heston) His Ten Commandments with number 7 being, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Matter of fact, God really hates sexual sin and that is reflected throughout the Bible.

It’s interesting how this couple in an apparent midlife crisis was having the time of their lives one second, feeling all young and in love again in heavenly bliss again. But then, in an ironic twist of fate, in the very next second, they were probably thinking “Holy hell!” You don’t need a degree in body language to read their two faces.

Another expression our youth use these days is, “Wait for it” meaning now we wait to see how their two lives change. Odds are, it won’t be for the better.

It is always interesting how even people who do not believe in God or follow His rules exhibit behaviors that default back to those of the Bible. Andy and Kristin, meet Adam and Eve!
