Former Fox News host Dan Bongino revealed why he departed the network amid rumors and speculation surrounding Tucker Carlson, who exited the network just days later.

Bongino confirmed that he was leaving Fox News in April but signaled at the time that the parting was mutual. However, after Carlsonโ€™s exit, there were also rumors about why Bongino may have left.

โ€œI think a lot of people think this may be some kind of anti-Trump thing. I gotta sayโ€”that wasnโ€™t my case,โ€ Bongino told former Fox host Megyn Kelly on her podcast Friday. โ€œI was not targeted. My show, they were dying to re-upโ€”we negotiated for an entire year. So I canโ€™t tell you like, โ€˜Oh, Fox got rid of me,โ€™ because they didnโ€™t,โ€ he said.

โ€œI negotiate my own deals. I donโ€™t have an agent. I do my own business deals. I donโ€™t need any, I do my own business,โ€ he added, saying that Fox โ€œwanted the showโ€ but โ€œI just had a different vision for my role at the network and thatโ€™s okay. Iโ€™m not the Saturday guy, Megyn, Iโ€™m sorry I canโ€™t work six days a week.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve got young kids and Iโ€™m not working six days a week,โ€ he added. โ€œAnd even though we recorded the show on Friday, you know, the inside baseball of Fox, what happens when thereโ€™s breaking news? Which with Trump out there is all the timeโ€”you gotta be on,โ€ Bongino said.

According to Bongino, who hosts a podcast on Rumble, he said Fox News included an offer in which it would be able to call him in to cover breaking news at any time.

โ€œItโ€™s hardโ€”so I couldnโ€™t do it. And I said, โ€˜Iโ€™m sorry, thatโ€™s not gonna work out.โ€™ So I definitely was not fired. Liberals are just making that up โ€ฆ but Iโ€™m not the easiest guy to deal with Megyn,โ€ Bongino said. โ€œAnd the thing, I think [what] your success out there on your own has bought you is freedom. Money buys freedom,โ€ he remarked.
