Democratic Party Is In The Intensive Care Unit

What happened to the party of Presidents Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy? The Democratic Party used to represent the interests of working-class people and display their patriotic support for our country. Today, Democrats show more concern about the war in Ukraine than with the struggles of average Americans.

Some Democrats, like Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas are more supportive of foreign countries than America. In an interview on The Breakfast Club radio show, Crockett said โ€œThe fact that I am rooting for Canada and Iโ€™m rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild.โ€

Yes, it is wild and quite sad. Over the years, the Democratic Party has been captured by far-left progressives like Crockett who represent extreme views, such as focusing on transgender rights, which are not supported by most Americans.

In a recent New York Times survey, 79% of Americans expressed opposition to โ€œbiological males competing in womenโ€™s sports.โ€ Nevertheless, in January, almost every Democrat in Congress, 206, voted against a bill that would have protected female athletes from competing against biological males.

On Friday, at a White House meeting, President Donald Trump said the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) would comply with his executive order titled โ€œKeeping Men Out of Womenโ€™s Sports.โ€ Yet, he noted the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills, was planning to defy his order.

Trump told Mills, โ€œSee you in court,โ€ and vowed Maine will not โ€œget any federal fundingโ€ if it refuses to comply with his order. Trump also noted the unpopularity of her position and predicted Mills should โ€œEnjoy your life after governor, because I donโ€™t think youโ€™ll be in elected politics.โ€

Trump is right, this type of radical position does not have the support of most Americans. Nevertheless, the last four Democrat presidential nominees, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, have allowed their partyโ€™s platform to be hijacked by progressives. Consequently, average Americans do not think the Democratic Party represents them.

This mentality helped President Trump win an electoral vote landslide, and a popular vote victory, last November. He won in every battleground state and made inroads with minority voters, especially with the Hispanic community, capturing 42% support. Accordingly, Republicans won control of the presidency, the Congress and most governorships, 27, throughout the country.

Crockett takes no responsibility for those losses, but, instead, blames the American people. She said, โ€œWeโ€™ve got to do better at education. People donโ€™t understand.โ€ Thus, Crockett and many of her Democrat colleagues believe that if Americans were more educated on the issues, her party would have won the 2024 election.

This mentality explains why Democrats have lost political control and are reeling in the wake of President Trumpโ€™s first month in office. Trump has moved rapidly in starting his second term, with a flurry of executive orders and bold action, leaving the Democrats staggered. Instead of an effective response to Trumpโ€™s exciting and popular moves, Democratic Party leaders have been laughably out of step.

One of their favorite responses is to play the race card. In the wake of President Trump firing Air Force General C.Q. Brown as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC) blamed race. In a CNN interview, Clyburn said Brown was fired โ€œbecause of his skin color.โ€

Of course, President Trump, like his predecessors, is allowed to hire the military and civilian advisers that he trusts for his administration. Yet, Democrats are very quick to play the race card, no matter the situation.

This race obsession from Democrats and their allies in the media is becoming unpopular among the American people. For example, MSNBC has canceled the show hosted by extreme leftist Joy Reid.

On a nightly basis, Reid would accuse President Trump and other Republicans with racism. This act is wearing thin even among MSNBC viewers. The network is expected to lose 10.5% of its viewers โ€œbetween the end of 2023 and the end of 2025.โ€ In the weeks ahead, there will be other programming changes on MSNBC, the network President Trump called โ€œa threat to our democracy.โ€

While viewers are leaving MSNBC, voters are leaving the Democratic Party. According to a February 19, 2025 poll by Quinnipiac University, only 21% of Americans approve of the actions of Democrats in Congress. In contrast, the approval rating for congressional Republicans is 40% and it is 45% for President Trump.

While those are not sky-high ratings, Republicans have significantly more support than Democrats. One reason is the old, tired leadership of the Democratic Party.

For example, Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer of New York, is hardly inspiring. He is even being mocked by liberal late-night television comics for his pathetic cheerleading at Democratic Party rallies.

In comparison, President Trump, while four years older than Schumer, displays youthful vigor and energy. He is a dynamic leader and Democrats have no one who remotely compares.

This is a major reason Democrat pollster Mark Penn admits that his partyโ€™s ratings are โ€œfalling off a cliff.โ€ In his latest poll, Democratic Party approval ratings are only 35%, compared to the โ€œhigh 40โ€™sโ€ in previous surveys.

In an interview on Fox News, Penn acknowledged that voters see the Democratic Party โ€œa lot more negatively than it was on Election Day.โ€ Penn credits the decline to voters reevaluating the Democratic Party on issues such as โ€œimmigration,โ€ โ€œeconomic policy,โ€ and โ€œsocial policies.โ€

Penn lamented, โ€œIn the Democratic Party, I have never seen anything like this. This is a record low for the Democratic Party in terms of favorability. It has fallenโ€ฆI donโ€™t think thereโ€™s any leadership right now thatโ€™s going to be able to bring that back.โ€

It is such a toxic environment for Democrats today that ESPN sports commentator Stephen A. Smith is being touted as a presidential candidate in 2028. On his podcast, Smith admitted that his name is surfacing because Democrats โ€œsuck right now! Horrible! Because they donโ€™t have a voice! Where the hell is the voice?โ€ Well said Stephen A.!
