Eight Years Later, The Trump Honeymoon Arrives

The Trump honeymoon, the one the President should have received after his first election in 2016, has finally arrived, eight years late.

Unfortunately, when he shocked the political world with his victory over Hillary Clinton, Trump was not greeted with congratulatory calls from Democrats hoping to work on bi-partisan initiatives. Instead, he was met with a well-funded left-wing campaign to sabotage his Electoral College victory.

When the Trump electors stayed true to the President, at least 60 Democrat members  of Congress decided to boycott his inauguration. To tarnish his inauguration, enraged progressives sponsored a massive โ€œWomenโ€™s Marchโ€ in Washington D.C. and cities throughout the country.

Several weeks later, U.S. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) announced support for Trumpโ€™s impeachment. She said, โ€œI hope heโ€™s not there for four yearsโ€ฆmy greatest desire is to lead him right into impeachment.โ€

In the beginning of his term, Trump faced the ridiculous claims of the โ€œSteele Dossierโ€ that were promoted by the Clinton campaign and elements of the FBI. This led to the โ€œRussian collusionโ€ investigation based on no evidence and the hiring of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The Mueller investigation, directed by a team of rabid Democrat attorneys, failed to find anything to charge President Trump. It cost taxpayers $32 million and lasted two years, in which President Trump had to respond to phony charges and partisan attacks.

Thereafter, Waters received her wish, and Trump was subjected to two undeserved and outrageous impeachments. It was followed by an FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago home, unprecedented lawfare, a sham congressional investigation into the activities of January 6, four criminal cases and dozens of unfair charges, outlandish civil judgments, a mug shot, an outrageous felony conviction and two assassination attempts.

No other political leader in the world could have survived such a series of targeted attacks, but, thankfully, Donald Trump is uniquely qualified to serve as President of the United States. He responded to each attack, including the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt, with incredible bravery, courage, tenacity, determination, and a vow to โ€œFight, Fight, Fight.โ€

Because of his popular platform, his admirable personal characteristics, and the weakness of his opposition, Trump won an electoral vote landslide in November. He also won every competitive, โ€œswingโ€ state and was the first Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote since 2004.

Due to his overwhelming victory in November, Democrats did not try to persuade his electors to abandon him or challenge the results in Congress, where he was certified the winner of the election.

Today, Trumpโ€™s popularity is unquestionable. He is enjoying the highest approval ratings of his political career. According to a new CNN poll, conducted by SSRS, President Trump has a 55% approval rating for his handling of the transition and 56% of Americans believe he will succeed as President in his second term. This is much higher approval than he received in 2017 when only 40% of Americans approved of his transition and only 48% believed he would succeed as President.

Since his election to a second term as President, Trump has used the transition period to assemble a stellar cabinet and meet with world leaders. He has also reached out to prominent Democrats and has even met with billionaires who did not support him previously, such as Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg.

In the process, Trump is uniting the country in a way few pundits would have predicted. Through the force of his diplomacy and strength, a ceasefire deal was struck between Israel and Hamas, and long-suffering hostages have started to be released.

Better late than never, in 2025, Trump is finally enjoying the post-victory honeymoon that every other President received. In contrast, the Democrats are unpopular and in total disarray. President Joe Biden is leaving office with only a 36% approval rating, tied for the lowest of his pathetic term in the White House.

Bidenโ€™s tortured and belated decision to withdraw as the Democratic Partyโ€™s presidential nominee has led to in-fighting among top leadership. The Biden and Pelosi families are at odds, with the First Lady publicly expressing her anger at former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her role in removing the President as the partyโ€™s nominee.

Others are upset at Biden for trying to run for another term when he was obviously suffering from severe mental decline. His late decision hampered the ability of Vice President Kamala Harris to unite the Democratic Party and defeat President Trump.

Of course, Harris did not do Democrats any favors with her horrible campaign that failed to utilize a war chest of $2.5 billion.

To make matters worse, she refused to do interviews with top ranked podcaster Joe Rogan and many other hosts. Moreover, Harris was unable to fully articulate her changing platform or express any philosophical differences with her unpopular boss, Joe Biden.

While some Democrats are unsure how to deal with another Trump presidency, some of the smart ones, like New York City Mayor Eric Adams and U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), are trying to find common ground and are open to collaborating with him.

The far-left Democrats, such as Pelosi, will continue to oppose him at every turn. Not surprisingly, she is boycotting his inauguration, along with at least a dozen other Democratic congressional members and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Such childish behavior from progressive Democrats will not dampen the enthusiasm most Americans have for the new Trump administration. After four years of economic misery, open borders, higher energy costs and foreign wars, Americans are ready for a change.

Unlike the last election, President Trump enjoys a mandate today. He has also learned how to navigate the federal bureaucracy and to ensure his supporters are placed in top positions. He has selected strong cabinet nominees who agree with his platform, so the disloyalty he endured in his first term will not reoccur.

The stage is now set for an even more successful administration and for President Trump to โ€œMake America Great Again.โ€
