Here’s Who’s Performing at Trump’s Inauguration Events

The inauguration of once-and-future President-elect Donald Trump is set to take place on Jan. 20 on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Trump has scheduled several other events to celebrate his swearing-in, and each will feature appearances by well-known musical guests.

On Jan. 15, Trump’s team released the lineup of performers.

Eight-time Grammy Award winner and American Idol alumnus Carrie Underwood is set to perform “America the Beautiful” ahead of Trump’s swearing-in.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement on Jan. 13.

Underwood has remained apolitical during her career, and her acceptance of the invitation raised some eyebrows.

During a discussion on ABC’s “The View,” several hosts questioned Underwood’s decision to perform at Trump’s inauguration, but comedian Whoopi Goldberg—a critic of Trump—defended her.

“I stand behind her,” Goldberg said.

“If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform someplace, I believe they have the same right.”

Christopher Macchio, a member of the classical crossover group New York Tenors, is set to perform the National Anthem.

Country music singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood is expected to close out the official events at the Capitol.

His “God Bless the U.S.A”—also known as “I’m Proud to be an American”—was a staple at Trump rallies ahead of the election.

The iconic five-man disco group Village People will take the stage at the “Make America Great Again” victory rally at Washington’s Capitol One Arena on Jan. 19.

Their hit song “YMCA” was used by the Trump team to close out many of his rallies.

The president-elect has been seen dancing to it so often that it became an unofficial theme song of his campaign.

“We know this won’t make some of you happy to hear, however, we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” the band wrote in a Facebook post on Jan. 13.

The band members also said they hope their music will help unite the country, even though their “preferred candidate lost.”

They will share the stage with multi-platinum superstar Kid Rock and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus of “Achy-Breaky Heart” renown.

Greenwood will make a second appearance at this event.

The Virginia-based gospel ensemble Liberty University Praise Choir is also performing.

Trump is expected to deliver remarks at three inaugural balls on the evening of Jan. 20, and each event will bring still more performances.

Jason Aldean, singer of the hit song “Try That in a Small Town,” will perform at the Liberty Ball. The Village People will give a second performance at that event.

The Trump team also announced a surprise mystery guest for that venue.

The Commander-in-Chief Ball, a military-focused event, will feature performances by popular country band Rascal Flatts and singer-songwriter Parker McCollum.

Country singer Gavin DeGraw will close out the evening at the final event, the Starlight Ball.
