Mainstream news media won’t report on the teachings of Islamic fundamentalist on the topic of women. A recent post exposed this to all.
The video at the top of this article is of an Iranian imam (preacher) delivering a religious teaching where he teaches that “Women are animals created by Allah to be used by men.”
The Iranian women’s football team (The Lionesses) arrived in Australia to play in the Asian Women’s Cup before the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. During their first game they weren’t able to score. They were probably more focused on their families in their homeland rather than the competition.
After the first game they stayed silent during the national anthem of Islamic Republic of Iran in what was seen by some as an expression of protest and by others an expression of mourning. No matter the truth, the women were immediately branded “traitors” on Iranian state television. Thereafter they did sing the Islamic Republic of Iran national anthem at two subsequent games.

The women did not release a public statement but did indicate they feared for their lives after the event. As a result, 5 of the 7 team members sought humanitarian asylum to remain behind in Australia rather than return home to an uncertain future.
CONCLUSION:
The Australian public embraced the women athletes supporting them with protests and then Australians stopped a tour bus that had the athletes on board. President Trump offered the Iran athletes asylum as a result of their treatment by Iran’s leadership.

Most people, no matter where they are from, would not approve of the Islamic fundamentalists treatment of women, much less professional athletes.
Our news media must do a better job of reporting the news accurately. Part of their responsibility is educating the public.
I have had the pleasure of having both Muslim and Jewish friends. They came to America to escape the never ending violence of the “hard liners” in the Middle East. My friends practice their faith without following the fanatical religious leaders who interject political power and control into their religious beliefs and force those beliefs on the people they have taken under their control.
