Joe Rogan Makes Surprise Offer to Vaccine Scientist

The Epoch Times Header

Podcast host Joe Rogan on Saturday offered vaccine scientist Peter Hotez $100,000 to the charity of his choice if he would debate 2024 Democratic presidential Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently appeared on Roganโ€™s show.

Over the weekend, Hotez, a frequent guest on CNN and NBC during the COVID-19 pandemic, posted a Vice article that claimed Spotify has โ€œstopped even sort of trying to stem Joe Roganโ€™s vaccine misinformationโ€ after the episode with Kennedy, 2024 presidential candidate and prominent skeptic of some childhood vaccines. That article essentially served as a hit-piece targeting Rogan, accusing him of fostering โ€œmisinformationโ€ by allowing Kennedy on his program.

โ€œItโ€™s really true,โ€ he wrote, adding that the interview is โ€œjust awful. And from all the online attacks Iโ€™m receiving after this absurd podcast, itโ€™s clear many actually believe this nonsense.โ€ Hotez is a vaccine scientist and a professor of molecular virology at Baylor College, a chair with the Texas Childrenโ€™s Hospital, and also wrote about his daughter, titled, โ€œVaccines Did Not Cause Rachelโ€™s Autism: My Journey as a Vaccine Scientist, Pediatrician, and Autism Dad.โ€

In response to Hotezโ€™s post, Rogan asked him to debate. โ€œPeter, if you claim what RFK, Jr is saying is โ€˜misinformation,โ€™ I am offering you $100,000.00 to the charity of your choice if youโ€™re willing to debate him on my show with no time limit,โ€ he wrote.

โ€œPeter. Letโ€™s finally have the respectful, congenial, informative debate that the American people deserve,โ€ Kennedy also wrote in response.

After Roganโ€™s call for a debate, Hotez issued a now-deleted Twitter post: โ€œBe serious Joe, thatโ€™s what you throw for your hunting buddies on a weekend.โ€

โ€œA $50 million endowment (which You/Spotify/ RFK, Jr can easily afford), not for me but so we can continue making low-cost patent-free vaccines for the worldโ€™s poor. Preceded by RFK, Jrโ€™s public apology,โ€ he wrote.

Hotez, a frequent proponent of COVID-19 vaccines who appeared on Roganโ€™s podcast several years ago, also wrote that he would be โ€œhappy to come on and clear the air, while also extending a counteroffer to Musk, inviting him to visit his vaccine laboratories and โ€œlearn more about our work.โ€
