Now is the time for a strong social conservatism

The Spectator World

Josh Hammer of Newsweek talks to โ€œWar Roomโ€ host Steve Bannon about his new article at the Spectator calledย โ€œNow is the time for a strong social conservatism,โ€ย in which he says that Joe Bidenโ€™s embrace of transhumanism and declaring that children have a moral right to โ€œgender-affirming care,โ€ i.e. self-mutilation, is a slap in the face to โ€œwe the peopleโ€ who wish to protect children from predators. Itโ€™s time to fight back! Your children are waiting for you to stand up and protect them. (This segment begins with video of the trans-gender Dylan Mulvaney and his interview with President Joe Biden.)

As Biden kowtows to Dylan Mulvaneyโ€™s trans ideology, the right should say: game on

President Bidenโ€™s recent interview with transexual TikToker Dylan Mulvaney is a clarifying event for anyone who pays attention to Americaโ€™s culture wars. The first notable aspect of the interview was the mere fact that it happened โ€” that the president of the United States, in the home stretch of a midterm election season, deemed it a prudent use of his time to sit down with such a radical activist. The second notable aspect of the interview is what our senile commander-in-chief said in the course of his conversation.

At one point, Mulvaney asked our hapless supremo if he thinks states should be permitted to โ€œban gender-affirming health care.โ€ (NB: โ€œbanning gender-affirming healthcareโ€ is Newspeak for โ€œprotecting innocents from the delusional, Hippocratic Oath-violative predations of those who seek to chemically castrate or hormonally pervert others.โ€) Bidenโ€™s extremely telling answer: โ€œI donโ€™t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that โ€” as a moral question and as a legal question. I just think itโ€™s wrong.โ€

Translation: John has a โ€œnaturalโ€ right to chop off his sexual appendage if he wakes up one day thinking he is Jane, and Sally has a constitutional right to chop off her perfectly healthy bosoms if she arises one morning convinced she is Samuel. The states do not have the โ€œrightโ€ as sovereign actors in Americaโ€™s constitutional order to ban these โ€œsurgeries,โ€ as both a โ€œmoralโ€ matter and a โ€œlegalโ€ matter. In this sense, the woke would have us believe that โ€œgender-affirming careโ€ is the next same-sex โ€œmarriageโ€ โ€” too pressing a โ€œcivil rightโ€ to be left to the democratic whims of the benighted citizenry. So much for โ€œour democracy,โ€ whose state Democrats invariably bewail when the topic turns to the January 6 jamboree.
