Switching gears is a necessity in both truck driving and politics. More than one semi driver has missed a gear and slowed to a crawl going uphill. Democrats switch gears all the time without ever finding the right one.
In the shipping business operators who can’t find the proper gear end up working on the loading dock. In politics the inability to shift correctly results in a load of electoral defeat. That grinding you hear is the sound of a party hopelessly stuck in first gear while Trump and Republicans zoom ahead of them in overdrive.
The only consistent shifting performed by liberals is rhetorical. Even then the variance is minimal.
“Trump is a Nazi.” “Trump will put us in internment camps” and “Trump is an existential threat to democracy” are all a variation on a theme repeated ad nauseum by unimaginative and unintelligent purveyors of propaganda. It is the very lack of diversity in their attacks and word usage that renders them so ineffectual.
Just last week Chris Van Hollen D-MD jetted to El Salvador to aid in the repatriation of alleged gang member and wife beater Kilbar Abgrego Garcia. Van Hollen’s mission of mercy was to “bring Garcia home.” Van Hollen was unaware that Garcia was “home”, as he was born in El Salvador.
Van Hollen repeated the Democrat and legacy media’s mantra that this illegal immigrant is a “Maryland father.” Hoping this tack would win the hearts of Americans while deafening their ears to the evidence of Garcia’s low character and gang-related behavior.
Fast Forward a week and liberals have abandoned the “Maryland father” tack in favor of legal terminology. Four Congressional Democrats followed Van Hollen to the aid of the alleged human trafficker, but on this trip “due process” fueled the flight.
Reps. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, Maxine Dexter of Oregon, Maxwell Frost of Florida, and Robert Garcia of California landed in El Salvador not to save a Maryland parent, but rather to defend a legal tenant. This change to the legal from the compassionate came, as it always does for these lefty looneys, because it wasn’t working.
Americans want illegal, criminal immigrants kicked out of the country. All of the polling on this issue remains clearly in the favor of removal. We do not care whether they have procreated during their time in our country, only that they are required to leave now.
Due process is a course of formal proceedings (such as legal proceedings) carried out regularly and in accordance with established rules and principles. As a former police officer, I am all too familiar with the efforts of some to legitimize illegal behavior by hiding behind legal jargon.
In 2019 an immigration judge granted Abrego Garcia protection from removal to El Salvador, agreeing with Garcia’s contention that he would be endangered by local gangs. The judge did not provide blanket asylum, saying โwithholding from removal, in contrast to asylum, confers only the right not to be deported to a particular country rather than the right to remain in the U.S.โ
While Garcia ended up in El Salvador due to an “administrative error,” he was always subject to deportation because he is an illegal immigrant. Father or not, gang member or not, domestic abuser or not, Garcia was subject to deportation.
Garica has appeared in US courts on multiple occasions. He has not been denied due process if anything he’s had more of it than most actual citizens experience in a lifetime.
With all due respect and in due course the Democrats shifted gears from false compassion to the misleading legalistic “due process”, all the while giving the Devil his due.
For all their gear grinding Democrats are stuck in compound low with no forward momentum and a view of Trump’s posterior as he races off ahead of them.
