Super Tuesday Voting Irregularities Report

True The Vote

True the Vote received numerous reports of primary voting problems into our HelpLine. Many were so widespread even mainstream media were forced to report the most glaring examples:

In California, new polling machines received mixed reviews, as some voters applauded the machines while others blamed the new system for long lines that forced stations open past closing time, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.

Voters in Texas also encountered long lines. The state has led the South in polling station closures over the past year, according to The Guardian.

Social media reports included, but were certainly not limited to:

I talked to one voter who told me he and his wife tried 9 different times to vote for #SteveGarvey In @sanmateoco, it wasn’t until the 9th time they were able to. They were told by election workers it’s been an issue all day yet it went unreported. They were however able to vote for the partial term with no issues. #GarveyGate Listen to the audio

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg went into Love Park Community Center Tuesday morning to cast a ballot for her own primary race — only to be told someone had already voted in her name, according to spokesperson Michael Kolenc.

Add to all of that, the North Carolina State Board of Elections’ advance announcement that they will be reporting election results later than usual due to changes in the state law.

Expect the unexpected, friends. It is reasonable to demand that any problems experienced in the Primary be addressed before the General. If you have an issue to report, please let us hear from you. We will follow up with you and the jurisdiction to assist in finding resolution.
