Teamsters to Stop New York Deliveries over Trump Verdict

Contact Your Elected Officials

Social media posts and a news story in the New York Post indicate that truckers may halt deliveries to New York City starting today, Monday, February 19.

The Teamsters, American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), is a national trade union that is the largest federation of collective unions in the United States. It is made up of some 60 national and international unions representing more than 12 million active and retired workers. I happen to be one of those retirees.

Trump-supporting truckers are saying they will refuse to drive into New York City after the former president was slapped with an $355 million judgement in his real estate fraud case last week they believe to be politically driven and unjust. The ruling was not based on prior case law or current evidence presented.

A conservative social media influencer trucker who goes by the handle โ€œChicago Rayโ€ posted a video clip where he claims some of his colleagues are going to stop making deliveries to New York City to protest the ruling that was issued in Manhattan Supreme court Friday and others are encouraged to do the same.

โ€œIโ€™ve been on the radio talking to drivers for about the past hour and Iโ€™ve talked to about ten drivers โ€ฆ and theyโ€™re going to start refusing loads to New York City starting on Monday,โ€ Ray said in the video from his truck cab.

President Trump reposted Chicago Rayโ€™s post to his social media accounts thereafter.

Former President Donald Trump met with the Teamsters Union on January 31st seeking their endorsement. Union President Sean Oโ€™Brien said it would be several months before their rank and file endorses a candidate for President in 2024 but said his union had a pleasant, direct, and engaging meeting with President Trump.

Ray said heโ€™s spoken to some truck drivers who work with him that have already told their bosses they wonโ€™t go to The Big Apple now. Ray claims some 95% of Union truckers are for Trump.

Friday New York Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the Trump Organization to pay over $354 million in damages, and barred Trump โ€œfrom serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years,โ€ including his namesake company. He ruled the same for his two sons, Don Jr. and Eric, for two years each.

Many legal experts immediately called out Engoron for prosecutorial misconduct and partisan lawfare. These experts said that in fraud cases such as this the award to damages to a victim is two to three times the evaluation of the fraud committed but in this case there was no crime victims, there was no fraud, (other than that committed by New York Judge Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James who exposed themselves as Trump haters before the trial began) and thus zero dollars of fraud times zero restitution to imaginary victims should have resulted in a judgement of zero dollars due.

CONCLUSION:

Many are legal professionals charging both Judge Engoron and NY A.G. James should be charged with legal malpractice and disbarred immediately. After all, if the case had any merit at all, which it did not, the two should have recused themselves from the case and let somebody impartial to Trump take it. They refused to do that. That would have jeopardized the outcome the Democratic Party had ordered up from Washington, D.C.!

Others are pondering aloud what this might mean for other New York business operations and whether a mass exodus is about to occur. A business cannot be profitable if it is constantly fraudulently attacked by frivolous and bogus litigation. How many New Yorkers will be sent to the unemployment lines because of this little Banana Republic Kangaroo Court charade?

As a retired affiliate member of the AFL-CIO by way of the American Federation of Teachers-Illinois Federation of Teachers (AFT-IFT) I could not be more proud of the teamsters for taking this stand against such an obvious case of litigation malpractice and election interference. I was also so very proud of the Canadian truckers and truckers who went down to the Texas border two weeks ago. I hope the teamsters as well as all other affiliate members bring New York to its knees!

This is un-American and this is not who we are as Americans. When real criminals are literally beating and killing Americans and being left out on bail, and fake charges are being drummed up against Republican Trump supporters and Trump himself, well, letโ€™s just say in the words of โ€œThe Far Sideโ€ cartoonist Gary Larson, โ€œTrouble is brewing!โ€

After the 2020 election it was said the Democrats canโ€™t beat the Republicans in a fair fight because the American public is not buying their socialist Marxist bullsh*t. Four years later we see that speculation is, in fact, true.
