“While the FBI has failed to produce the specific document by the subpoena deadline, their offer to provide an accommodation process in response to our legitimate request indicates the document is real,” Grassley said.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley on Wednesday fumed as the FBI failed to meet a subpoena deadline to provide congressional investigators with a form that allegedly details a bribery scheme between then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.

The Republicans revealed in early May that the FBI had an FD-1023 in its possession detailing the allegations and confirmed they had issued a subpoena to obtain the document. Comer and Grassley learned of the form’s existence from a whistleblower. The form allegedly includes a “precise description” of the scheme and its purpose.

The FBI, however, did not honor the subpoena by the deadline. Instead, acting Assistant Director of the bureau’s Office of Congressional Affairs Christopher Dunham wrote to Comer on Wednesday, informing him that the bureau had to be mindful of “executive branch confidentiality interests and law enforcement responsibilities.”

In the letter, which the New York Post obtained, Dunham informed Comer that “The FBI appreciates this opportunity to inform you of our confidentiality interests so that we can ‘seek optimal accommodation through a realistic evaluation of’ each otherโ€™s needs and ‘avoid the polarization of disputes.'”

“We are committed to working together through this process,” he assured the Kentucky Republican.

Both Comer and Grassley deemed the response unsatisfactory.

“Itโ€™s clear from the FBIโ€™s response that the unclassified record the Oversight Committee subpoenaed exists, but they are refusing to provide it to the Committee,” Comer insisted. “Weโ€™ve asked the FBI to not only provide this record, but to also inform us what it did to investigate these allegations.”

“The FBI has failed to do both. The FBIโ€™s position is โ€˜trust, but you arenโ€™t allowed to verify.โ€™ That is unacceptable. We plan to follow up with the FBI and expect compliance with the subpoena,” he declared.

Grassley, meanwhile, affirmed his belief in the document’s existence and questioned the bureau’s approach to addressing the allegations.

Comer And Grassley On FBI Failing To Comply With Subpoena Deadline

WASHINGTONย – Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer issued the following statements on the FBI failing to comply with Chairman Comerโ€™s subpoena seeking an unclassified FBI generated FD 1023 form that allegedly details a bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.

โ€œWhile the FBI has failed to produce the specific document by the subpoena deadline, their offer to provide an accommodation process in response to our legitimate request indicates the document is real. So the question remains, what did the FBI do to investigate very serious allegations from an apparent trusted FBI source implicating then-Vice President Biden? Todayโ€™s letter from the FBI raises additional questions, including whether the FBI has an open investigation based on these allegations. The American people pay the FBIโ€™s salaries, and theyโ€™re entitled to a fulsome response,โ€ Grassley said.

โ€œItโ€™s clear from the FBIโ€™s response that the unclassified record the Oversight Committee subpoenaed exists, but they are refusing to provide it to the Committee. Weโ€™ve asked the FBI to not only provide this record, but to also inform us what it did to investigate these allegations. The FBI has failed to do both. The FBIโ€™s position is โ€˜trust, but you arenโ€™t allowed to verify.โ€™ That is unacceptable. We plan to follow up with the FBI and expect compliance with the subpoena,โ€ said Chairman Comer.

Based on whistleblower disclosures, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions. It has been alleged that the document includes a precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose.

Grassley, Comer Demand FBI Record Alleging Criminal Scheme Involving Then-VP Biden

Congressional subpoena seeks specific FBI document

WASHINGTON โ€“ Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member and long-time whistleblower advocate Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today are demanding the FBI produce an unclassified record alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national. The document, an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, allegedly details an arrangement involving an exchange of money for policy decisions. Comer issued a subpoena today following legally protected disclosures to Grassleyโ€™s office.

โ€œWe believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States. What we donโ€™t know is what, if anything, the FBI has done to verify these claims or investigate further. The FBIโ€™s recent history of botching politically charged investigations demands close congressional oversight,โ€ Grassley said.

โ€œThe information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-Vice President Biden allegedly engaged in a bribery scheme with a foreign national. The American people need to know if President Biden sold out the United States of America to make money for himself. Senator Grassley and I will seek the truth to ensure accountability for the American people,โ€ Comer said.

Grassley has longย raised concernsย about political bias infecting high-level investigative decisions at the FBI, including investigations related to the Biden familyโ€™sย foreign business arrangementsย andย bank records. While FBI Director Christopher Wrayย pledgedย to prevent any retaliation targeting whistleblowers, the FBI and Justice Department have thus far refused to voluntarily provide responsive records or answers to congressional inquiries related to its handling of these politically sensitive investigations.

Comer and the Oversight Committee areย investigating the Biden familyโ€™s suspicious business schemesย to determine if the Biden family has been targeted by foreign actors, if President Biden is compromised, and if there is a national security threat. The Oversight Committee has obtained thousands of pages of financial records related to the Biden family and their associatesโ€™ business transactions. Recently, the Committeeย revealed one dealย that resulted in several members of the Biden family and their companies receiving over $1 million in more than 15 incremental payments from a Chinese company through a third party.

The subpoena requires the FBI to produce in unredacted form all FD-1023s that contain the word โ€œBidenโ€ and all accompanying attachments and documents.
