Maduro ‘is one of the largest narco traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security,’ said U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
The Trump administration is offering a $50 million reward, double its previous offer, for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Attorney General Pam Bondi said on Aug. 7.
Bondi, in a video posted to X, accused Maduro of using foreign terrorist organizations like Tren de Aragua, the Sinaloa cartel, and the Cartel of the Suns to “bring deadly drugs and violence into our country.”
She said the State Department and the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) previous $25 million reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest would be increased to $50 million.
“To date, the DEA has seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, with nearly seven tons linked to Maduro himself, which represents a primary source of income for the deadly cartels based in Venezuela and Mexico,” Bondi said.
“Cocaine is often laced with fentanyl, resulting in the loss and destruction of countless American lives. The DOJ has seized over $700 million of Maduro-linked assets, including two private jets, nine vehicles, and more.
“Yet, Maduro’s reign of terror continues. He is one of the largest narco traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security.”
The Venezuelan regime’s information ministry did not respond to a request for comment by publication time.
Anyone with information on Maduro is asked to call 1-202-307-4228 or go online to DEA.gov/submit-tip.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized Maduro in a press release last week, calling his regime illegitimate.
“One year since dictator Nicolás Maduro defied the will of the Venezuelan people by baselessly declaring himself the winner, the United States remains firm in its unwavering support to Venezuela’s restoration of democratic order and justice,” Rubio said.
“Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government … The United States will continue working with our partners to hold accountable the corrupt, criminal, and illegitimate Maduro regime.
“Those who steal elections and use force to grasp power undermine America’s national security interests.”
