Former President Donald Trump revealed that Secret Service agents blocked him from joining the march to the U.S. Capitol building on Jan.6, 2021.

The former commander-in-chief told The Washington Post Thursday that the โ€œSecret Service said I couldnโ€™t go. I would have gone there in a minute.โ€

On Jan. 6, 2021, Trump had spoken during a rally highlighting 2020 election issues while both houses of Congress were in session to certify the election.

During the interview with the Postโ€™s Josh Dawsey at his Mar-a-Lago residence in South Florida, Trump said, โ€œI thought it was a shame โ€ฆ and I kept asking why isnโ€™t she doing something about it? Why isnโ€™t Nancy Pelosi doing something about it?โ€

โ€œAnd the mayor of D.C. also. The mayor of D.C. and Nancy Pelosi are in charge,โ€ Trump said, referring to the Democrat House speaker and Mayor Muriel Bowser, also a Democrat.

Several days after the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol, Trump was suspended by most major social media platforms. Twitterโ€”his most used social media platformโ€”claimed it banned his account because Trump would allegedly incite violence regarding the election.

โ€œThe crowd was far bigger than I even thought. I believe it was the largest crowd Iโ€™ve ever spoken to,โ€ Trump said of the Jan. 6 rally. โ€œI donโ€™t know what that means, but you see very few pictures. They donโ€™t want to show pictures, the fake news doesnโ€™t want to show pictures. But this was a tremendous crowd.โ€

Referencing a House panel investigating the Jan. 6 incident, Trump told the newspaper that he hasnโ€™t yet been contacted by the committee. His lawyers have invoked executive privilege in a bid to block the committee from issuing subpoenas.

Trump also made reference to several anonymously sourced articles claiming there were gaps in his telephone logs on Jan. 6. Trump said he didnโ€™t use a burner phone and denied removing call logs.
