Committee “Indicts” Enablers of the CCP’s Great Technology Heist

In the course of over 100 webinars, the Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC) has documented exhaustively how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has waged what it calls “Unrestricted Warfare” against the United States and how that warfare has been enabled by a large number of Americans in positions of power and influence in both the public and private sectors. The key insights and recommendations provided by the scores of participants in those programs have informed a new book by the Committee’s Vice Chairman and Executive Secretary, Frank Gaffney and Dede Laugesen, respectively, that is entitled, The Indictment: Prosecuting the Chinese Communist Party & Friends for Crimes against America, China and the World.

The Indictment makes the macro case that eight “war crimes” have been perpetrated against the United States to the enormous detriment of its people, economy and constitutional Republic. The book argues that those responsible must be “prosecuted” for such crimes at a minimum in the “court of public opinion.”

Of these crimes, the recruitment and suborning of American political officials, the financial sector and other business leaders that the Chinese Communists call “elite capture,” have arguably been the most devastating. Their transfer of, by some estimates $3 trillion to $6 trillion, and sensitive technology of incalculable value has not only enormously weakened America, it has transformed the People’s Republic of China (PRC) into the greatest existential threat to freedom in human history.

This CPDC webinar undertakes a case study of how a singularly well-placed venture capitalist named Neil Shan and his firm, Sequoia Capital, have served the Chinese Communist Party in achieving these ominous outcomes and exemplified how elite capture has worked to undermine our country and strengthen its mortal enemy.
