โ€œThe American people have spoken. Heโ€™s the nominee,โ€ Maryland Gov. Wes Moore told The Epoch Times.

WASHINGTONโ€”Democrat lawmakers, returning from their Fourth of July holiday recess, were met with a forceful letter from President Joe Biden on July 8 that unequivocally stated that he has no intention of stepping aside and is โ€œrunning this race to the end.โ€

That same morning, the president called in to MSNBCโ€™s โ€œMorning Joeโ€ to double down on his stance.

โ€œI am not going anywhere,โ€ President Biden said.

The presidentโ€™s comments were made after highly publicized efforts by a handful of lawmakers and media pundits to push him out of the presidential race following his June 27 debate with former President Donald Trump.

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t be running if I didnโ€™t absolutely believe that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024,โ€ he said during the MSNBC interview.

โ€œI donโ€™t care about what those big names think.โ€

The president was referring to media organizations and pundits who have recently called on him to quit the race.

President Biden criticized the media for underestimating his performance.

โ€œThey were wrong in 2020,โ€ President Biden said. โ€œThey were wrong in 2022 about the red wave.โ€

He asked the media pundits to follow him closely and watch how voters respond to him on the campaign trail and form an opinion afterward.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, who has voiced continued support for President Biden, criticized recent calls from the media and lawmakers for the president to step aside as โ€œundemocratic.โ€

โ€œThe American people have spoken. Heโ€™s the nominee. And so any will to try to take that away from him is actually disrespecting the democratic process,โ€ he told The Epoch Times.

Since the first debate, President Biden has been actively rallying support. As part of this effort, the president participated in a call with the Biden Victory Fund National Finance Committee on July 8, along with Mr. Moore, according to the Biden campaign.

The call was about focusing on the future and hearing the presidentโ€™s vision, Mr. Moore said.
