Washington, DC— Wednesday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) announced he will vote against two open-borders illegal alien amnesty and citizenship bills this week.
Brief synopsis of H.R. 6 and H.R. 1603:
H.R. 6:
- Grants a citizenship path to roughly 3 million illegal aliens in America.
- Allows illegal aliens convicted of dangerous crimes, including brutal cartel and gang members, access to a green card.
- Grants mandatory green cards and amnesty to another 700,000+ illegal aliens.
- Does nothing to protect America’s southern border.
H.R. 1603
- Grants amnesty to another 1.5 million illegal alien farmworkers and their families.
- Eases restrictions on the already unlimited H-2A guestworker program and adds another 40,000 green cards even as American unemployment is high.
- Continues the EB-5 “investor visa” program that Chinese nationals use to purchase American citizenship.
Congressman Brooks released the following statement:
“America, far and away, has the world’s most generous legal immigration system. America grants legal status to upwards of 1 million foreigners each and every year. Yet, every day thousands trample on the legal process established, break into our country, and spit on the U.S. Constitution and the Rule of Law (one of the primary factors making America such a desirable place to live).”
“On October 22, 2019, then-candidate Joe Biden promised that, if elected president, he’d grant amnesty and citizenship to every illegal alien in America.[1] The chickens have come home to roost. America is now suffering from the repercussions of that dangerous promise. Tsunami after tsunami of illegal aliens pour into America as fast as possible in anticipation of amnesty and citizenship. Joe Biden enticed illegal aliens to break into America. It should surprise no one that they’re clamoring to get in. Joe Biden’s promise was reckless, and his response to the consequences has been feckless.”
“Socialist Democrats assert those of us who support border security are heartless and cruel. Really? Where is Socialist Democrats’ compassion for Americans? America’s porous southern border has resulted in:
- Roughly 20 million illegal aliens in America (no one knows for sure).
- Roughly 2,000 dead Americans each year, all killed by illegal aliens on American soil![2]
- More than 30,000 dead Americans each year who have died from overdoses on deadly narcotics smuggled through America’s porous southern border.[3][4]
- Suppression of wages for, and job opportunities lost to, struggling American families.[5]
- Massive diversions of more than 100 billion taxpayer dollars to pay for the welfare costs of illegal aliens and their families.[6]
“My question for open borders enthusiasts is simple. Why don’t you have compassion for American families who suffer because of the tsunami of illegal aliens who cross America’s porous southern border?”
“Their answer is horrific. What motivates Joe Biden and his Socialist allies in Congress to open the illegal alien floodgates? A crass craving for political power. They seek to dilute and undermine the voting power of American citizens with the votes of illegal aliens and other legal noncitizens. How do we know that? History. Where Socialist Democrats enjoy dominant political control, they have made it lawful for illegal aliens and other noncitizens to vote, thereby diluting the vote of American citizens and undermining the ability of Americans to run their own governments! San Francisco is the largest such city, where illegal aliens and all other noncitizens can lawfully register to vote and in fact vote in local elections. If Joe Biden gets his way, Americans who understand and hold dear the foundational principles that make America the greatest nation in world history will be powerless to control their own governments. When patriotic American votes are diluted, Socialist Democrats win. They know this and exploit it.”
“In FY 2020, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted 103,603 administrative arrests. Those arrested had criminal histories including more than 1,600 kidnappings, 3,800 robberies, 37,000 assaults, 10,000 sex crimes, and 1,800 homicide-related offenses.[7] To reiterate, 1,800 illegal aliens are arrested in America for homicides each year. Worse yet, National Institutes of Health data reveals that roughly 31,000 Americans die each year from overdoses on heroin and cocaine[8], 90% of which floods across America’s porous southern border.[9] On average, at least 50 Americans die each day from illegal alien homicides or overdoses on poisonous drugs shipped through our porous southern border. How many dead Americans will it take for Joe Biden and his Socialist allies in Congress to see the error of their open-borders ways and repent?”
“American workers are already suffering the effects of tsunamis of cheap foreign labor who suppress American worker wages and take American jobs. The economics of wage suppression are simple, when the supply goes up, the price goes down. According to Harvard economist Dr. George Borjas, between 1980 and 2000, importing cheap foreign labor cut earnings of Americans by an estimated $1,700 per year, or roughly 4 percent.[10] In 2021 dollars, that’s $2,582.40 per year.[11] But, the negative effects of importing cheap foreign labor are a double gut punch to American workers. It’s estimated that roughly 7 million illegal aliens hold jobs in America.[12] That’s on top of the roughly 1 million foreign worker visas America grants each year. That means 8+ million American jobs are held by foreign workers and the wages of Americans who do hold jobs are on average $2,582.40 per year lower because of the Americans Last immigration policies Joe Biden advocates.”
“A Federation for American Immigration Reform study determined that illegal aliens are a $116 billion per year net tax loss to American taxpayers![13] That means that each illegal alien in America is a net tax cost of $9,000 per year to American taxpayers. With the national debt closing in on $30 trillion, that’s a cost America simply cannot afford. Americans should benefit from their tax dollars, not illegal aliens.”
