Israel Strikes Back: Timeline

The Epoch Times Header

NOT SINCE WORLD WAR II HAS THE JEWISH PEOPLE seen a civilian massacre of a scale and brutality like that launched on Israel on Oct. 7 by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas and its allies.

To date, more than 1,200 Israelis have been killed, including at least 22 American citizens, and thousands more injured as the terrorists broke through border barriers and breached towns and military installations.

Reports describe how terrorists went door-to-door looking for Israelis to kill or drag away as hostagesโ€”including women and children. Dozens were kidnapped, including infants, toddlers, and elderly people. Hundreds of people attending a music festival were gunned down as they tried to flee.

In response, Israel launched large-scale attacks on Hamas-controlled territory in the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of airstrikes decimated buildings marked by the Israeli military as Hamas lairs. More than 1,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to Palestinian authorities.

The Israeli government has promised that this was just the beginning, announcing a full-scale siege of Gaza and urging residents to flee any area controlled by Hamas.

Gaza is a 140-square-mile strip of land along the Mediterranean coast bordering Egypt to the south and Israel to the east and north. Itโ€™s about the size of Philadelphia and home to about 2.3 million, mostly Palestinian Arabs.

The Epoch Times’ Israel and New York editions have assembled a timeline of events in the first three days of the attacks. All times are local and approximate.
