Syracuse University has a historic commitment to serving veterans and their families and the founding of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families or IVMF in 2011 further expands that commitment to serve across the country and beyond.

Supported by a world-class advisory board and public and private partners, their professional staff delivers unique and innovative programs in career, vocations, and entrepreneurship education and training to post 9/11 veterans and active-duty military spouses, as well as tailored programs to veterans of all eras. The IVMF also provides actionable and national impacting research, policy analysis and program evaluation; and works with communities and non-profits across the nation to enhance service delivery for the 22.5 million veterans throughout the United States and their families.

National Veterans Resource Center

The National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC) represents an unprecedented commitment by Syracuse University to cultivate and lead innovative academic, government, and community collaborations positioned to empower those who have served in defense of the nation.ย This state-of-the-art facility, spearheaded by aย transformational gift from Dan โ€™68 and Gayle Dโ€™Aniello, will serve as the center of veteran life on the campus of Syracuse University, in the local community, and across Central New York. Specifically, the NVRC will function as a bridge to forging public-private partnerships, a collaborative space to nurture academic research and actionable programming, and a forum to facilitate collaborative thought leadership โ€“ all for the purpose of advancing the social, economic, and wellness concerns of the nationโ€™s veterans and their families.

Why Syracuse University?

Syracuse University has anย extensive history dating back to World War Iย when it comes to supporting veterans and military-connected students. Most notably was after World War II, SU Chancellor Tolley helped write the G.I. Bill and was a major contributing factor in helping veterans receive a higher education. This type of dedication to military-connected students and veterans continues today in a variety ways.
