RNC members push resolution to expel Cheney, Kinzinger from House GOP conference

A Republican National Committee member and former Trump adviserย is asking the party to vote Thursday on a resolution demanding that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy expel Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from the House GOP conference for their participation on the Democrats’ Jan. 6 investigation committee.

Cheney, of Wyoming, and Kinzinger, of Illinois, two vocal critics of former President Donald Trump inside his own party, agreed to join the Jan. 6 committee on their own after McCarthy was denied the right to pick Republicans to serve on the panel. They have since become outcasts from much of their party.

But the draft resolution submitted by former Trump adviser David Bossie, an RNC committeeman from Maryland, seeks to deepen their isolation by having the group formally request their ouster from the House Republican Conference. The resolution would be considered Thursday at the RNC’s annual winter meeting in Salt Lake City.

“The Conference must not be sabotaged by Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger who have demonstrated, with actions and words, that they support Democrat efforts to destroy President Trump more than they support winning back a Republican majority in 2023,” reads the draft resolution obtained by Just the News.

The resolution argues that Cheney and Kinzinger “have engaged in egregious actions in their positions as members of the January 6th Select Committee in the U.S. House” that include “championing an illegitimate committee with no minority rights or checks and balances,”  “pursuing what amounts to a third political impeachment of President Trump” and “compelling congressional depositions without minority members, counsel or staff present, constituting more of an inquisition than a serious legislative proceeding.”

The resolution also criticizes the two lawmakers for “deliberately seeking to undermine the privacy and due process rights of private citizens by issuing invalid subpoenas” and “serving as pawns to parrot Democrat talking points aimed at advancing the Democrat agenda under the false cloak of ‘bipartisanship.'”

Resolution Calling For The House Republican Conference To Immediately Vote To Expel Liz Cheney And Adam Kinzinger

Cheney-Kinzinger-Resolution

Spokesmen for Cheney and Kinzinger did not immediately return a call Tuesday seeking comment.

Solomon Yue, an RNC committee member from Oregon, told Just the News he is among the party officials supporting the resolution.

“I support Bossie’s resolution for three reasons: Liz Cheney & Adam Kinzinger joining another Pelosi witch-hunt; the illegitimate Select Committee on Jan. 6th without GOP House Leader’s official consent is a betrayal; their action shows that they can’t be trusted with GOP House Conference strategy to take back the House majority in 2022,” Yue said.
