Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called it a ‘horrific act of violence.’

A shooting has happened at a school in Minneapolis, officials said on Aug. 27.

Federal agents responded to an active shooter at Annunciation Church, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said on X.

“The shooter is contained,” Minneapolis officials said in a statement. “There is no active threat to the community at this time.”

Families of children who attend the church-run school were told to go to 525 W. 54th St. to reunite with their children.

It’s not clear how many people were shot.

Calls to the church and the school, which has students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, were not answered. The first day of school after the summer break was Monday.

“I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said in a statement.

He called it a “horrific act of violence.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey wrote on X that he was monitoring reports of horrific violence in south Minneapolis.

This is a breaking story that will be updated.
