The Real Bill Cassidy Returns

5Mind. The Meme Platform

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has a horrible history of voting with liberal Democrats and harshly criticizing President Donald Trump. In 2021, he was one of only seven U.S. Senate Republicans who voted to convict President Trump on bogus impeachment charges.

After the President was acquitted and began laying the groundwork for another campaign, Cassidy was quick to lampoon the effort. In addition, he entertained the possibility of becoming a third-party presidential candidate in 2024 to stop Trump from winning again.

In 2021, during President Joe Biden’s horrendous administration, Cassidy supported the pork-laden $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which the Competitive Enterprise Institute noted “may prove to be the most wasteful infrastructure bill ever, given the extent that climate change considerations will lead to further misallocations of resources.”

In 2022, Cassidy supported the CHIPS Act, which Heritage Action described as “a $250 billion package that blends corporate welfare with industrial policy.”  He also voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which Heritage Action labeled, “a package of different gun control proposals stitched together with school safety and mental health provisions.”

Bill Cassidy’s lifetime conservative voting record is an abysmal 62%, which is a poor fit for the “red” state of Louisiana. Accordingly, Cassidy has been concealing his true beliefs for many years.

Prior to the 2020 election, Cassidy aired television and radio commercials touting his support of President Trump. In interviews on many radio and television programs, Cassidy affirmed his Trump credentials.

In 2020, President Trump carried Louisiana with 59% of the vote. His endorsement of Cassidy helped the Senator win another term. Yet, in Trump’s hour of need, after a second bogus impeachment charge was leveled against him by the Democrat controlled House of Representatives, Cassidy betrayed the President and voted to convict him. His pathetic rationale was that the President was “guilty.”

The impeachment circus was in response to the January 6th protests at the U.S. Capitol. The House “approved a single article of impeachment charging the President with incitement to insurrection.”

The charge had zero merit and was concocted to blame Trump for the violent protests on January 6th. As noted in a 2021 petition calling for the resignation of Cassidy, the “sham trial” was “a disgrace for President Trump had already left office and could not be removed. A partisan Democrat Senator presided as ‘judge.’ The only reason for this Kangaroo Court was to embarrass MAGA supporters and President Trump and try to prevent him from running for office again.”

In contrast to Cassidy’s rhetoric, prior to the protesters entering the U.S. Capitol, President Trump told the massive gathering at the Ellipse to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” He never called for violence or for the crowd to attack the U.S. Capitol police officers and enter the building. Nevertheless, Cassidy joined Democrats to brand President Trump as “guilty.”

Fortunately, Trump withstood everything that was tried against him. It included two phony impeachment charges, a partisan Mueller investigation of the nonsensical Russian collusion case, outrageous lawfare from the Biden administration, ridiculous civil cases, a raid of his Mar-a-Lago home, the unprecedented mugshot, 91 criminal charges in four venues with a total maximum sentence of 700 years in prison.

In the 2024 presidential campaign, he was victorious despite the additional hurdles of two assassination attempts, a Democratic Party challenger that was inserted into the campaign when Biden’s mental deficiency was exposed and almost universally negative media coverage.

As President Trump’s second term started, his former critic, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, pretended to be a staunch supporter. He voted for the President’s nominees, despite his antipathy for many of them, especially Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as the Health and Human Services Secretary.

Cassidy consistently posted on social media about his supposedly great relationship with Trump and was proud to show photos at the White House with the President.

This charade ended on January 17, 2026, when President Trump officially endorsed U.S. Congresswoman Julia Letlow (R-LA) in the upcoming U.S. Senate race.

Cassidy had hoped that the President would refrain from an endorsement; however, his dream was unrealistic.

President Trump knows that Cassidy is an enemy and if Democrats take control of the House of Representatives again in 2026 and vote to impeach him a third time, Cassidy is likely to vote to convict him again.

After Trump’s endorsement, it did not take long for Cassidy to show his true political colors once again. After the latest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shooting in Minneapolis, Cassidy joined with other Trump-hating Republican Senators, like Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to call for an investigation into their activities.

Cassidy posted on social media, “The events in Minneapolis are incredibly disturbing. The credibility of ICE and DHS are at stake. There must be a full joint federal and state investigation. We can trust the American people with the truth.”

What is “incredibly disturbing” is not the work that ICE is doing, but that Minnesota politicians are encouraging protesters to interfere with federal agents. Unfortunately, a second person has been killed after impeding another ICE investigation.

The President has every right to invoke the Insurrection Act and bring in the United States military to restore order. Minneapolis is a hotbed of leftist protests, reminiscent of the violence that occurred in 2020 following the death of George Floyd.

Instead of praising ICE agents for removing violent criminals from the streets of America, Cassidy is grandstanding and trying to curry liberal media praise by calling for a “federal and state investigation.”

Under Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, no “state investigation” can be trusted. Walz has acted irresponsibly from the beginning of the ICE activities in Minnesota. He is desperately trying to deflect attention away from the Somali fraud scandal that has engulfed his state.

Walz’s efforts to distract and politicize tragic events are being aided by a spurned Senator trying to harm the Trump administration. Cassidy’s political motives are as obvious as the Governor’s and just as despicable.
