Title IX High School Athletic Controversy | The Today Show, NBC News

5Mind. The Meme Platform

Selina Soule is a fighter. And that’s why she decided she needed to take action—not only for herself, but for the hundreds of other girls subject to this unfair policy. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, she and two other female athletes filed a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.

Most 16 year old’s probably weren’t preparing for an appearance on the Today Show over their summer break.

But Connecticut high school student Selina Soule was.

Last week, Selina appeared on the Today Show along with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Legal Counsel Christiana Holcomb to take a stand for female athletes.

As a high school athlete, Selina has seen her chances for state titles and even college scholarships slipping away from her. And it’s not because she lacks the talent or training.

No, it’s because the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) has permitted biological males to compete with the girls. And two transgender athletes in Connecticut have been sweeping the female competition, collecting titles and records along the way.

Because of this, ADF filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education, asking that it investigate and ultimately protect the right of these female athletes to compete on a level playing field.

Watch what Selina had to say on the Today Show.
