The president blames the ambush on two National Guardsmen near the White House on lax Biden-era vetting of immigration from Afghanistan.
President Donald Trump on Nov. 26 called for a reevaluation of every immigrant from Afghanistan who entered the United States during the Biden administration, connecting the policy to a shooting that critically wounded two National Guardsmen near the White House on Wednesday.
In a pre-taped address, Trump called the attack an “act of terror” and blamed it on immigration policies under his predecessor, President Joe Biden. The suspect has not been identified, but the Department of Homeland Security is confident the individual is from Afghanistan and entered the United States in September 2021, Trump said.
“We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden, and we must take all necessary measures to ensure the removal of any alien from any country who does not belong here, or add benefit to our country,” the president said.
“If they can’t love our country, we don’t want them.”
