Walmart Brings Back Thanksgiving Basket, Turkey at Lowest Price Since 2019

The basket, including a turkey, serves 10 people for under $40, according to the retailer.

Retail goliath Walmart this week announced the return of its famous Thanksgiving Basket meal, including a turkey and all of the fixings, that it says will serve 10 people for less than $4 per person.

The basket will feature a Butterball turkey for $0.97 per pound—the company’s lowest price since 2019—and 20 national and private brand items for just under $40. Walmart also is offering free express delivery on the meal basket for first-time pickup and delivery customers.

“We know every dollar and minute counts—which is why we are offering a low-priced, one-click Thanksgiving Meal Basket featuring iconic brands like Butterball and Stove Top, alongside trusted Walmart private-brand items,” Walmart CEO John Furner said in a statement.

“We want every family to be able to share a meal and celebrate without compromising on quality, quantity, or tradition.”

Walmart initially offered its Thanksgiving meal basket in 2022. Since that time, millions of customers have taken advantage of the deal and its savings for serving larger gatherings.

This year’s meal basket includes a 13.5-pound Butterball turkey, Stove Top stuffing, Kinder’s fried onions, and Walmart brand dinner rolls, potatoes, cranberries, baby carrots, corn, green beans, gravy, pie crusts, and pure pumpkin, among other items.

In addition, Walmart is offering a gluten-free Thanksgiving meal for those with dietary restrictions, as well as balanced Thanksgiving swaps. These will include high-protein swaps such as Goodles Mac & Cheese and cauliflower mashed potatoes, plus ingredients for a high-protein pumpkin dessert.

Moving beyond the Thanksgiving Holiday, Walmart is also introducing its new one-click meal baskets for any occasion. This includes their Prime Rib Meal Basket, offering choice Angus beef, potatoes, salad, and a bottle of wine.

From now through Dec. 25, consumers can purchase holiday meals online or in stores nationwide. Online shoppers can pick up their meals at the store or have them delivered to their home within an hour.

This year, the retail giant is again teaming up with the Salvation Army to support families in need. When ordering the Thanksgiving basket, customers can make an online donation or an in-person donation at their local Walmart store.
