Former President Donald Trump on Nov. 3 gave arguably the clearest signal that he plans to run for president in 2024, telling supporters in an Iowa rally that they should โget ready.โ
โAnd now, in order to make to make our country successful, and safe, and glorious, I will very, very, very, probably do it again, okay?โ Trump said. โVery, very, very probably.โ
The crowd at the rally cheered in response, erupting in chants of โTrump! Trump! Trump!โ
โThatโs nice, well, get ready, thatโs all Iโm telling you, very soon,โ Trump said. โGet ready.โ
Trump was in Sioux City, Iowa, campaigning for Iowa Gov.ย Kim Reynoldsย and Sen.ย Chuck Grassleyย (R-Iowa), both seeking reelection to their current positions.
The Iowa rally was the first of Trumpโs four campaign rallies ahead of the election. He is scheduled to travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Nov. 4, followed by Miami, Florida on Nov. 6, and Vandalia, Ohio on election eve.
Trump has been hinting for months about a 2024 White House run, though he hasnโt made any official announcement. During a rally in Texas late last month, Trump said he โwill probably have to do it againโ next year.
Earlier on Thursday, Trumpโs former senior counselor, Kellyanne Conway, said she expected Trump to โannounce soonโ that he is seeking another term as president, during an event by the Christian Science Monitor.
Jason Miller, the founder of the social media app Gettr and former Trump adviser, told โJust the News, No Noiseโ TV show on Oct. 31 that he expects Trump to announce his 2024 bid after the midterm elections.
โI hear him make a little noise. It could be pretty soon after the midterms,โ Miller said. โMy gut tells me itโs going to be a little closer to the first of the year or maybe even just after the first of the year.โ
