The Marine Corps is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima during a 36-day-long observance, February 19, 2020 through March 2, 2020.

On February 19, 2020 the Marine Corps launched an amphibious assault onto the island of Iwo Jima, beginning one of the bloodiest battles in our nation’s history.

This year’s theme, “We are Iwo,” honors the efforts and sacrifices of all service members, reflects on the power of teamwork, and celebrates the adaptation, resilience and readiness still embodied in today’s Marines.
